Ashkenaz Jewish immigrants going into Texas from Germany invented smoked brisket in order to avoid the standard pork. The Mexican barbacoa is a steamed product that's totally apart, and southern barbeque is not made with beef until Jews did it. (although barbecue sauce wasn't developed until much later).

>>19818622
Commercial flat matzo. The original matzo was soft, and virtually identical to Bedouin flatbread. It was only when the industrial revolution happened and Jews migrated into the US that a need for shippable matzo came about. The modern hard cracker matzo is a direct result of this.

On the whole, we're a religious and cultural group that has modified and changed recipes to suit our tastes. Even when we imagine "national" cuisines like German, there's still borrowing. For example, apple cider is known from Spain to England and France. Saurkraut is French, German, and Austrian all at the same time. We are citizens of our countries, and the children of immgrants, not outsiders.

We're not indigenous to Israel. That's just the latest Israeli BS to excuse land theft. We're also not just from Europe. While the specific Ashkenaz ethnic group is European, Jews as a whole came from all over the place. Even when Rabbinical Judaism was being developed through the composition of the talmudhim, it was by multiple groups transfering ideas via text. Some were in Iran, Israel, Egypt, etc.

The modern state of Israel is in Palestine out of political and religious vanity and British arrogance.

Anon I don't know what to tell you, but almost all modern bread-making has roots in Polish cuisine
There's even a bread-making term for pre-fermenting dough called "a poolish"
Poland invented the croissant although admittedly France perfected it
The term "the upper crust" comes from a type of Polish bread that was baked in clay pots or cast iron kettles then sliced horizontally
The bottom slice was priced the lowest and the top slice was priced the highest
So only wealthy people bought "the upper crust"

Even if I were to grant that all bread is Polish, a country doesnt have the capacity to act or invent. Looking up the wiki for bagel and seeing "jewish communities in poland" then going "yeah so Polish cause Jews suck!" isnt an argument. Its still Jewish, Poland or not.
You could have said bagels have evidence of being made by Germans far before the juden and you might have had a point though.

It's from the old custom of giving charity baskets and monetary gifts on chanukah. The oldest son was supposed to deliver gifts to the needy. Because the goal of the idiot to say Jews don't belong as citizens to the nations they were born in. If a Jew from Germany invents a new cake, it's German. Jewish people and cuisine isn't even a monolythe. The specific type of Jews we tend to imagine are "Ashkenaz" Jews who developed a unique culture and cuisine via isolation via ghetto laws.
Even out understanding of national cuisine (ei. German, Italian) didn't come about until after the rise of anti-monarchal Republican nationalism in the 1830s. Before this, food and language was super regional, and is to this day across the world. There's even divisions within the Ashkenaz, such as the Gefilte fish line.

As long as you're looking as non-Orthodox Jews, yes. Judaism is binary in that you're either a Jew, or you're not. There's no such thing as a half Jew, and converts are 100 percent Jewish. But because Judaism has multiple sects (Haredi, conservative, reform, reconstructionist, MO, Samaritan, etc.) and not all Jews see all Jews as Jews (mostly the OJs being assholes), it goes down to being community and congregation specific.

Israel had a iron clad legal filter that meant only Orthodox converts were Jews, which meant 90% of converts were not Jewish. To this day the legal filter is still enforced silently.

The conversion is rabbi specific, and how you convert is a multually decided upon process. It's not standard, but there are trends.

Kreplach is such a labor of love that you can rarely find them on a menu.
I liked the episode of Somebody Feed Phil where he gets his Mom to make her Matzo Ball soup for him and then invites Daniel Boulod to come over and try it.

Back when I lived in Miami, going for a drive up the Beach and visiting Wolfie Cohen's Rascal House was my ideal jewish experience because it had it all. Something like 8000 guests daily The bucket on the table with half sour pickle selection...fave was the green tomatoes. The bread basket with the homemade soft and fresh assorted rolls such as onion pockets, chewy rye, challah all so good! Starting with soup, side of chopped liver, and then a nice diner entree like romanian steak or a mile high corned beef sandwich, all the way to divine cheesecake or blintzes is a multi-course feast. Usually, a to go goodie box of dessert tray choices is all that I can handle...rugulah cookies or cheesecake hours later.
