Have you ever been to jail? I have. I doubt the food was good quality even with that menu. I was held at the county jail in a southern city and the food was literal slop. Maybe prisons are better, but I can tell you firsthand that even today, jail food is absolutely the most awful shit

Americans are absolutely incapable of making decent food. All of their comments where they claim that "you can also find in america the best quality X, it's only the hillbillies that eat the plastic crap" are completely delusional. Because they live in their own little pathetic american bubble, they just don't know any better. They are delighted by their flavourless gmo produce that is mutated to provide maximum yield and minimum flavour. They go crazy when they put some low quality dry spice mix in the chlorinated chicken breast, because any kind of flavour that activates their tongue and nose sensors is an exquisite experience. They simply cannot comprehend what it is like to actually be able to distinguish the flavour of different types of similar ingredients, because everything is flavourless in the land of the fat. They cannot distinguish turkey from chicken if it's served cut and prepared. They cannot distinguish hake from cod. Seabream from snapper. Horse mackerel from herring. It is why you often see americans commenting about some exotic meat describing it as "tastes like chicken". Because for americans, chicken is flavourless.

For Alcatraz specifically I think that's an old myth without any historical basis.
On the east coast this would have been true since they produce about 200x as much lobster as the west coast does.

I case anyone's wondering, the taste of a waterbound animal is determined by what it eats. Lobsters which live in the gutter and eat human shit smell and taster disgusting. Lobsters kept in clean tanks fed with real food are great. Same works for every fucking fish ever. If you ever went fishing, you'd know. In many countries people don't even eat freshwater fish because the swampy waters predispose the fish to taste like fucking shit. But I know better, if you keep the fish in a clear freshwater pond with clay soil, the freshwater fish tastes just as good as sea fish.

When you cut up the fish, you can literally smell the stench of the mire on it if it is from a filthy place. I can tell from how the fat on a fish's belly smells what kind of soup the fish would make, if it smells, I just cut the fat off entirely.


We don't have lobsters where I live, but I'd imagine they work the same, correct me if I'm wrong.
