My man.
Brandy is the thinking man's brown liquor of choice.
Whiskey is for Reddit neckbeards.

Nothing like a classy glass of cognac or a brandy-based cocktail. My go-to bar order is a Sidecar.

As someone who has only tried brandy once or twice, what brands would you recommend and how do you drink yours? I'm usually into whiskey, wine, and beer

What are some decent, entry level brandies? Are Courvoisier or Hennesy any good? To someone unversed in brandy, it seems like most options are either quite expensive or ghetto ass shit.

>> No.19776793

My problem with brandy is I worked in a high end liquor store when I was younger and the first Brandy's I ever tried were high end, expensive ones. I loved them. Then I eventually tried lower-mid priced ones and did not enjoy them nearly as much. This has made me realize that there is a greater price to quality ratio with Brandy than almost any other spirit.

Hennessy is the most popular but Remy Martin and D'Usse are my go-to.

If you buy actual cognac none of them will be really bad. Imo Remy Martin, Courvoisier or Hine are better than Hennessy. I'd start with a VSOP as you get the most for your money in that price range. VS aren't that much cheaper while XO are much more expensive even if they just barely hit the minumum age.

It became so horrible over the years. Rember drinking it as teenagers and now it tastes like paint thinner. My grandparents have a few bottles of Asbach from the 70s and 80s in their cellar from which i got some and they taste so much better than the modern swill it's unbelievable. Almost like cognac or armagnac.

one of the first bottles I bought was paul mason brandy with a vp logo or something. out of all the liquors I ever tasted, that was the best. and it was probably the cheapest brandy on the shelf as well. i've never tasted an expensive brandy but i will one day.

If your not black, french, or some fedora wearing loser, why? Literally everything else has a better quality to price ratio, availability, and variety. Cocktail use is fair though.

It's so smooth even at bottom shelf. Brandy wins the best.liquor award in my opinion. We used to buy these $6 pints of L&J up in Grand Rapids and loiter while we drank them... with strangers. I love the drink, the atmosphere is cool too. Inner city drinking.
Used to panhandle for them. Just cause you got no money don't mean nobody will spare you a bill or start a tab. If panhandling legal in your city I mean.

stick with whiskey so long as they dont dose 1/100th as much as Brandy.

even the "authentic", "unadulterated" "classy" ones are fucking filled with extra sugar and rival rum in that regard.

I always recommend Courvoisier VSOP when that question comes up because it's easy to find and very solid for the price (usually around $40).

>>19778809
Because it's delicious and different from whisk(e)y. Brandy is very underappreciated here in burgerland (unless you're Wisconsin I guess). The price/quality ratio is not that different from scotch, jap whisky, or good tequila. Bourbon is kind of an outlier, you can get something like a $22 bottle of OGD 114 and it's already ~85% as good as bourbon will get.

The boise/dosing thing is definitely lame, I prefer my booze unadulterated. That said, there is additive free brandy if you care to look. Both the L'Encantada and Laubade are additive free for example.

I will never be buying L'Encantada because of garbage like this regardless of the quality. appealing to taters is one thing. appealing to needleniggers is plain and simple uncouth.

i'm a scotch drinker but when i want to change things up brandy is my go to, especially armagnac. not sure why but at the lower end of prices (under 50) it just seems to have so much more character
