their pan pizza dough was so sweet and greasy, I remember eating a bbq pizza from there and it was like anl cheesy sugar bomb. their buffet and salad bar was the best growing up though

>> No.19762938

It wasn’t just about the pizza. Going to Pizza Hut in the 1990s was an experience. Mom & Dad split a pitcher of beer. The kids play arcade games. A trip or two to the salad bar. The pizza comes to the table in a pan. Sure it’s not the best pizza ever but its pretty good, and an easy way to dine out as a family.
Now there are “better” alternatives. You can doordash 4 different restaurants so everyone gets what they want. Everyone can stare at their phones or just go to their rooms to eat and entertain themselves separately. Mom and mom’s boyfriend can take weed edibles and watch netflix and plan their next tattoo sleeves.

Hold up. I thought it was my term to talk. Hold up. Let me tell you about a thing called dial-up. Back in the day it was crazy. We used to go to a place called Uncle Biden's. Then by the time we got back we forgot to answer the phone. And sometimes people stole our information. Over the phones on our computer. The pizza was good though.

I think it may have been earlier, anon...
I distinctly remember a cut-off year.
>1985=Decent enough pizza, good for a family night out
>1986=What... Why does this taste funny?
May also have something to do with Coke changing it's formula because of corn subsidies and PepsiCo (their owners at the time,)trying to keep up with them by cheaping up the pizza hut ingredients with corn syrup and other AG shit as well. Not really sure. They were the first pizza place to have pizza ordering online via PizzaNet...
Also strangely from the Wiki:
On August 18, 2020, it was announced that Pizza Hut would be closing up to 300 restaurants after the bankruptcy of ***NPC International***, one of its largest franchisees.

That's about the time Pepsi (who bought them in 1977) spun off their fast food restaurants into their own brand, Yum!, which had Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell at the time.
All three went massively downhill in the shift as Yum was like a typical private equity firm running the places for a cheap as they possibly could.
