I've never had a dish from Japanese that was superior to another countries variation
>Curry
Thai is better
>pasta
Italian is superior
>noodle dishes
SEA is superior
>sandwiches
nearly any other country is better
>fried chicken
Korean is way better
>charsiu
Chinese is WAYYYY better
What do Japanese do great that makes people in here rave about it so much?

I like the very very high quality of many Japanese ingredients for my own cooking. I love using miso paste, sesame oil/paste, soy sauce, kombu, katsuobushi, shiitake mushrooms etc. Top quality Japanese short grain rice could easily be considered the best rice in the world.

I have a lot of fun making sushi with/for friends also.

I don't care about where the ingredients are made or originate. I care about the quality of the ingredients.

Gyoza are better than chinese dumblings imo and
Jap Ramen is better than Chinese Ramen 100%. I've recently started cooking some japanese dishes and it has many techniques I'm not accustomed to, especially infusions; japanese cooking has unique flavors that you can't find elsewhere

All picrel shows is that other cultures use spices to mask the favor of the foundation of the dish whether it be fish/meat/poultry or something else.
>cook shitaly
>throw on million spices
You gotta have subtlety so you can actually taste the spice and meat, etc. Don't overpower it.

It's kind of interesting that the graph shows that *within* a given region, spice use is generally steady or declining as temperature increases, except for Europe. I don't know what this means, but it's interesting to me

Vegetable Tempura.
No joke they have the best fried vegetables.
Batter is thin, light and crispy.
It's not overloaded with sweet sauce or hot sauce.
It's salted enough for you to taste the food.
Never had it where it was overly oily or made me want to die.

You're wrong, and obviously have never been to Japan.
Thing is, the Japanese don't even need to try.
Their secret is high quality ingredients. There's just something in the water of Japan that makes everything tasty.
They can literally just slap a piece of raw fish on a ball of rice and it would be a 10/10 best thing to ever grace my mouth.
Now you take that same "sushi master genius" and put him in a high-end restaurant in Minnesota, and it's gonna be shit.
You won't get it. Remake the thread after you visit Osaka.

They will start by catching their own fish, as there are no fishermen who catch fish using the same methods as in Japan
