Giannina restyling 3/1.

It’s 3 cups moka with a reducer that can turn it in a 1 (large) cup moka (50~60g max).

If you want a 2 cups stainless moka there’s pic related (Ilsa Slancio). It’s now made in China, if that bothers you.

Wtf Hodeidah, their beans are so medium light roasted that I really need to dial in with my moka to find the sweet spot.

>drawdown takes nearly a minute longer than it should
>still has this noticeably inconsistent texture
What's the problem here? Is the grind too fine? I'm making sure the bed is flat at the end of the bloom, I start pouring at 45 seconds, have 300g by 1:15 and 500g by 1:45, do both the little spoon swirl clockwise and counterclockwise and the following actual swirl, and leave it undisturbed for the rest of the process. Even then, this didn't finish until almost exactly on 4:00.
Either I'm grinding wrong or pouring wrong somehow.

Grinding finer increases your extraction up to a point, then you start clogging/channeling and your extraction worsens. Back off that grind a bit and try keeping that water level lower. You don't need a massive pool on top, thats just going to give you more bypass. Shoot for ~an inch and a half of water and just top it off as that level drops.

>Robusta quality coffee from India is known for its vetiver aromas, which give it a unique and delicious taste. It is grown from the Robusta coffee tree variety, which is known for its aroma and strength. With a strength of 6 out of 10, this is a very strong coffee, suitable for those who prefer a stronger drink. It is characterized by a pleasant bitterness, which gives the coffee a racy character.

>The aromas of vetiver and pepper combine to create a delicious combination that will please the most discerning coffee lovers. Indian coffee is grown in mountainous regions, where climatic conditions and nutrient-rich soils contribute to its unique and complex taste. It is also known for its higher caffeine content than Arabica, which makes it stronger and fuller in the mouth.

>In summary, Robusta quality coffee from India is an ideal choice for coffee lovers looking for a powerful and racy tasting experience, with aromas of vetiver and pepper. It is suitable for people who appreciate a pleasant bitterness and a high caffeine content. It's also a great option for coffee lovers looking for a stronger drink for the mornings or to accompany a meal.

Strong intraoral protracted savour.
At least three-quarters of an hour.
A tad fast, will have to grind a smudge finer next time.

So far i'm pleased with this gustation session.
Will reiterate undeniably.

Could taste them but not distinctively. It was my first shot and not dialed yet. A smudge fast. It's not fair to judge them yet.
I could taste some deep leather, earth, woods, smokey and peppery. The licorice more in the aftertaste i'd say. But not clearly like if it was candy and pepper. Will try again tomorrow and report back, focusing more on those flavours.

You inspired me with your goffee hauls. I'm still a goffeemancer novice but so far the goff has been great. They offer great prices, 8.90.- for six 60ml branded coffee house cups and saucers for example, great service, and most of all, a 7m underground beans cellar. They also make capsules such as Nespresso, Lavazza and ESE. This goffee is my third from them and am really satisfied. I'm eager to try the other goffees i've ordered, notably specialty goffee or a 3 goff blend from the same beans from the same farm but with a different process (honey, natural, washed). I'll keep posting about the goffees, but so far I can't say it's bad experience.
Almost forgot. There is no roasting date on the packets, but there is a best before date and they are all in 2026, it's fresh, just not autistically advertised.

Probably the intermediate model since the smaller one doesn't come in white and the larger one seems geared toward a higher volume than a single person. I would need to get a new grinder too, but it doesn't seem worth it to look into that at the moment since surely a dozen new models will have come out by the time I actually get around to buying one.

How different does robusta and arabica taste? I only ever had arabica before, bought cheapest robusta beans and they smell awful, rancid and putrid. Brew them anyway, the taste wasn't great but it left no acidic aftertaste unlike arabica, so it was easy to stomach. I wonder if I just bough really bad robusta beans or they really smell much different to arabica.

Sounds like you already know what happened. Treat it like a learning experience. Low(er) density peaberries take on heat quickly. Your best bet is going to be extracting worse. Treat it a little darker than it looks visually. Little coarser, little cooler water. I just roasted up a little batch of tiny leftover ethiopians from screening through a bag. It also came out a bit roastier than I normally drink.

thanks bro. I was pretty annoyed but maybe it'll be salvageable as espresso in a few days. I tried to hit above city and went straight to FC+. shit goes quick. trying again with lower heat longer as that seemed to do the best. I have some Ethiopia that I also pushed longer and I have some bitterness, but I think that was more or less a off gas and grind size issue.

I only had like 75g of the tiny ethiopians left so I just roasted those up. They smell like blueberry jam+honey smacks cereal.Theres just a little tiny sheen that my other roasts of the same crop never take on and that roastieness comes through and darkens up the cup a bit. Someone else might love it, I'll tolerate a few cups of it. I typically do 115g batches and agitate with a bar spoon until the fan is able to give adequate movement so small batch+small beans was always going to be an experimental roast for me. Glad I took a picture of this before brewing, got to pull that chipped bean out.

Anon, that says it can be carcinogenic in "high dosage tests" (i.e., providing animals with extremely high amounts of the substance in question) and is in group 2B. Other items that are in 2B include pickles, aspartame if you drink 17 diet cokes per day or more, certain coins, and aloe vera.
For reference, group 2A is a higher risk and includes yerba mate, working overnight, and drinks over 65 Celsius which probably includes your coffee.

Thats literally what it is. Old high wattage poppers(like the westbend poppery) people have been modding dials into are hard to get now, and expensive for old shit from the 70s. So they decided to send one off to china and get them remade with heat and fan control stock.
>Think I can find a popcorn air popper at the thrift store if that's all it takes
Absolutely, but having separate heat and fan control is a godsend. I roasted for a few years with the $20 nostalgia popper that sweetmarias sells. It works, its just underpowered and the chamber needs to be deeper. I ended up wiring an arduino into mine for pid control and logging. For someone just wanting to fuck around, I'd get the $79 popper and save yourself the headache. Works great out of the box.

If you want to look into it a bit more, they're just miniature fluid bed roasters. Heating element+fan to move hot air and shuffle beans around gives you a very even roast. As the beans lose weight, they move to the top of the bed letting the heavier beans fall down closer to the heat. Very simple, very effective.

His videos have good production value and he's generally quite up front about things like sponsors, free products, etc. which is respectable. And he generally does a decent job of explaining the basis of his recommendations, so that newcomers actually understand how to tweak a recipe if they want to adjust the outcome.

Although his "ultimate french press recipe" is just silly. If you're not going to use the plunger in a French press, you'll literally just cupping and you don't even need to use a French press in the first place.

his video is saying "the french press is fundamentally flawed but if this is your only way of making coffee you can use this technique to use a shitty product to make something good"
its not the same as cupping.

There are different tasting notes of course, but coffee will always first and foremost taste like coffee. >Espresso is zero bypass.
Nope. The fanciest of fancy baskets are now unpolished and media blasted to give them a rough texture. Polished baskets let water wick around the sides and bypass the puck. Tapered baskets help mitigate it a bit, but the rough baskets let coffee fully adhere to the wall so there's no easy channel for water to find. does coffee that's made from a Moka pot have more caffeine than one from a French press? Does a Moka pot make coffee, or espresso? see people use the terms interchangeably when I know that's not the case.

>> No.19741412

>>19741405
The caffeine content in coffee is primarily determined by the amount of coffee grounds used and the brewing time, rather than the brewing method itself. Both Moka pot and French press coffee can have similar caffeine content if you use the same amount of coffee grounds and brew for a similar duration.

Here's how caffeine content is affected:

Amount of Coffee Grounds: The more coffee grounds you use, the higher the caffeine content will be. If you use the same amount of coffee grounds in both a Moka pot and a French press, the caffeine content will be comparable.

Brewing Time: Caffeine is extracted from coffee grounds relatively quickly, so a longer brewing time can result in a slightly higher caffeine concentration. If you brew coffee in a French press for a longer time than you would in a Moka pot, it could have a slightly higher caffeine content, but this difference is usually minimal.

In practice, the difference in caffeine content between Moka pot and French press coffee is not significant if you use similar amounts of coffee grounds and brew for a similar duration. The primary factors influencing caffeine content are the coffee-to-water ratio and the duration of brewing, not the specific brewing method. If you want to control the caffeine content of your coffee, you can experiment with the coffee-to-water ratio and brewing time to suit your preferences.

Why is the latte macchiato so prominent in mainland Europe, to the point where in most places it is the default when asking for a latte?

It gets really confusing and hard when you want a proper latte, but most places bring you a latte macchiato with the glass and all. Even worse, it's often easier to get a real latte by ordering a cappuccino because that's often made wrong anyway and they just make a latte instead.

Regardless of what's right, what's wrong, preference, taste etc. Why is it the case that you are served this way? Is it because the layered drink in a tall glass looks more fancy? Is it easier to train staff to make and you don't need to worry about latte art?
I personally get really disappointed when I order a latte and see the big glass come out though.

Hello my mongoloid obsessed friend.
I’ll let you know that I never opened any of the last /ctg/ because I always add the pastebin, also you can spot me because I post from mobile and the files I attach have a distinct filename.

Just had my morning coffee (I live in Japan), now taking a shit. In about 8 or 9 minutes I’ll get up and start getting dressed for work. Next coffee will be at half past noon, one of the instant coffee powders in the staff room.
