Yes expensive soy sauce is worth the price. Woth exoensive soy sauce you run into a more diverse taste selection where specific soy sauces are best used for certain applications.

Some are better to use with cooking, some should only be applied after cooking is done. Others are lighter and more delicate, others are bolder woth more robust flavors

Buy one expensive bottle you should buy 3 or 4 haha.

I like PRB more than kikkoman, it seems chinese light is more fonky than japanese dark.

You can dive into soy sauce like you can with any product that has its bougie small batch boutique bullshit, but kikkoman is a genuinely solid soy sauce, it's not like it tastes cheap or anything, that's what soy sauce tastes like. It's like heinz for ketchup, it's kind of the benchmark.

they aren't, not even for sushi. japanese soy sauce is mostly for more delicate dishes like that because it's much more mild than chinese soy sauce.
try chinese light and dark soy sauce from decent brands like lee kum kee, pearl river bridge or kimlan.

light is the stronger one. people usually use 2-3 parts light and 1 part dark

Oh, I just bought that last week. I though it was good, but then again I have no prior experience buying soy sauce. Kikkoman (not the salt bomb one) was what the local Asian market recommended to me and it was good for both cooking and seasoning. I wanted to try others too since I cook a lot and will use it eventually. Thanks for reading my blog!

Fair enough. The thing about soy sauce is each culture/country has their own that suits the specific cuisine best.
A vietnamese soy sauce won't be as good as a Japanese soy sauce with sushi.

I made a template of soy sauce

Q Kikkoman's soy sauce is not very tasty
A Kikkoman's soy sauce is the main for selling at supermarkets
Cost performance is good, but the taste is inferior to high-quality soy sauce

I will explain why the soy sauce in the photo is expensive.
1. Kikkoman is cheap because it is mass produced.
2. Raw materials are cheap
3.It is made in a factory so it can be made quickly (it can be done in 6 months)

The soy sauce in the photo is
1. Because we are a small company, we cannot mass produce.
2. We are particular about our raw materials.
We use high-quality wheat, soybeans, and salt.
3.It takes a long time to complete because it is made using an old wooden barrel.
It will take 3 years to complete

There is a big difference in price compared to Kikkoman's soy sauce.
Not recommended if cost performance is important
Of course, it's four times more expensive than Kikkoman, so it's four times more delicious.
It won't happen

But if you're looking for a delicious soy sauce, I highly recommend the soy sauce in the photo.

It takes 10 years to make my favorite soy sauce.
Expensive but worth it

This is getting absurd now.
In my experience Opie, there is a difference, but it is mostly very subtle and and not something you would use daily but instead for special occasions/guests.
I have never tried a 40$ soy sauce, but 9 times out of 10, it's mostly about the "Prestige" of price.
Give it a shot one time, then if you really wanted, you can just refill the bottle with the 7$ stuff.

>> No.19726638

forgot to add

The reason it's expensive is because of the transportation costs.

The soy sauce in the photo is called Tsuru Soy.
The shipping fee will be very high as it will be exported from Japan.

Kikkoman has factories all over the world, so shipping costs are lower than for the soy sauce shown in the photo.

The soy sauce in the photo is also cheap if you buy it in Japan.
You can buy the same item for $14.

I think the $40 is probably due to shipping costs.

Any soy sauce is fine
I think it's probably because I didn't use dashi soup.
Dashi is made from kelp, bonito, shiitake mushrooms, etc.
It's difficult to explain, so I'll post a YouTube video.
