What do you get on the plane? I always like a fizzy something, sparkling water or ginger ale. Usually I just get the snacks to save for later.

I drink the bottle of water I bought after security.
I eat the sandwiches I made at home/my accommodation/the bus to the airport.

i dont fly on airlines that give you "free" food and drink and I'm not about to pay the extortionate prices they charge you for miniscule amounts of food and drink.

So you’re okay with security pawing through them, touching the food with their gloves? Because that’s what they do.

they never do. security have picked out the sandwiches once and only asked if I planned to eat them before arriving at my destination. I wouldn't eat them if the bag they're in is opened but its never happened.
Worst that happens is the sandwiches get slapped around a bit while they root through my bag or squashed when they shove everything back in. I use bread rolls rather than sliced bread and pack them tightly in greaseproof paper to protect them.

i rode a train for the first time last week and loved it. imagine that, having enough room to get up and walk around and move around in your chair.

I usually don't get anything because of how goddamn expensive airline food is.
