There's some remote gas station on the road from LA to Las Vegas and it has an a&w restaurant in it and it has original formula on tap without the carbonated bullshit in the bottles/cans/everywhere else. Fucking tasty as hell.

>> No.19708202

As a Brit this stuff tastes bizarre. I imported some the other day and was expecting it to taste like ginger beer.

It sort of reminds me of mouthwash.

Wintergreen is a flavor component in root beer. Its sassafras, wintergreen, anise, juniper, dandelion and some others

Same Brit again. Yeah I mean it's a unique taste. There was just something about it that almost tasted medicinal.

Would I have another one? If I was in freedomland, probably. Don't think I'd go out of my way for it over here though.

I can see it tasting weird if you've never had it before, sassafras has a pretty unique flavor. I grew up with it so I've always thought it was delicious, I've always wondered what people around think of the more unique flavors in North America like root beer or maple

>> No.19708327

>>19708301
Its like cilantro, you either like it or it tastes like soap. They all have the same general taste but different brands have different ratios of the flavors, so try a couple different ones. Bangs for example is very vanilla forward.

Don't you think there are people who don't taste the soap but still don't care for the taste?

weird af for someone who grew up in New England but I have never once had a root beer float (although if I did it would certainly be made with A&W). I did grow up on orange floats though. My older sister worked at a local hot dog stand and made Sunkist and vanilla floats for me sometimes and they're fucking amazing.

Brits don't generally find wintergreen appealing for the same reason a lot of Americans don't like cherry flavoring. They're more used to it as flavoring for medication/mouthwash than food or drink. I miss rootbeer like crazy, you only really see it in asian grocery stores and it's only ever lukewarm and flat A&W.
