They literally hatch in it. Even if you pick them out there would still be a huge amount of the fuckers INSIDE the grain.

Here in SEA, we salvage weevil infested rice by spreading it thinly on a pan and putting it out in the sun for a few hours. The heat will drive away adult bugs and kill the larvae. Pick out the dead ones before putting the rice back into a clean container.

all grains are like this, when i worked at a homebrew store we had to freeze all the bags of grain we got in or the eggs would hatch and there would be a full blown infestation. Same with bread, there's a huge amount of ground up bug and eggs in there. just freeze your shit before they hatch and your good.

When buying rice, oats, etc, put in airtight container and drop in freezer for 3 days. Kills eggs before they can hatch. Keep in container in cupboard. Yes, they are shipped with it. Add oxygen absorbers in airtight container for longer term storage also kills it.

I buy kilo bags of oats and just leave them open in the cupboard for months. They're still fine.
Why the fuck do you buy shit with insect eggs in them?

Can't the grains be heat-processed on the factory to kill all larvae though? Why would they ship it straight from the field?

You gotta remember where we are. Most of these guys are not cleaning their kitchens regularly or any other part of the house. They never repair holes in a screen, they leave the door open, etc.

Unless you moved into a place that was already infested with roaches or bedbugs it's really easy to keep bugs out of your food.

It has less to do with sanitation and more to do with the temperature of where your food is stored.
