Do you have a vacuum sealer

>> No.19622672

yes

>> No.19622718

>>19622672
Me too

>> No.19622758

>>19622672
What do you use it for

>> No.19622764

Yes. Over ten years now. Never used it. Brother gave it to me.

>> No.19622774

Overpriced appliance. All you need is a good ziplock bag and a straw.

>> No.19622838

>>19622758
Sous vide and for freezing meat

>> No.19622850

I've never needed to seal my vacuum.

>> No.19622856

>>19622647
yes.
use it for:

sous vide

buying beef primals and cutting steaks
breaking up and sealing bulk ground beef

some other meats as well

breaking up bulk cheese

jury is out on true cost effectiveness but it is handy. stuff stores and freezes nice, then thaws really nice and easy with no leaking.

I have a chinkshit vacuum sealer that I bought on Amazon 3 years ago and it’s still working.

>> No.19623232

yes, i dont sous vide anymore but its still good for freezing meat

>> No.19623243

>>19622856
I do all of that with zip lock bags or Tupperware.

>> No.19623256

>>19623243
vacuum sealing is better at it, less freezer burn than zip locks and more space efficient than tupperware

Nah but I bought my mum one for some reason.

>> No.19623497

Yes. Only using it for containers and mason jars, not the plastic bag.

>> No.19623505

>>19622862
Go back.

>> No.19623582

>>19622647
Yes.

>>19622774
Ziplock bags are, at most watertight, not airtight in my experience. The gauge of the plastic is too permeable to hold a vacuum seal for any length of time.

>> No.19624098

No because I have a limited budget that I'm too impatient to save up for expensive limited use gadgets.

>> No.19624134

>>19624098
you can get one for ~$40

>> No.19624138

>>19622647
yes princess one. use it for sous vide and vacuum sealing meat

>> No.19624139

I'm heterosexual so no

>> No.19624242

>>19624134
I didn't know that. Thank you, anon.

>> No.19624261

>>19622647
No, I just suck the air out of a ziploc bag.

>> No.19624278

Why do you guys vacuum seal meat and do sous vide?

>> No.19624281

>>19623232
>i dont sous vide anymore
good for you
how long have you been sober?

>> No.19624284

>>19624261
>I just suck the air out of a ziploc bag.
you're doing it backwards, you're supposed to blow vacuum into the bag to force out any air

>> No.19624312

>>19622647
Sure, my wife and girlfriends suck out and make a vacuum.

>> No.19624317

>>19624284
Dude, you're blowing. That's fucking gay.

>> No.19624527

no but my bf does
he almost exclusively uses it to reseal bags of chips...
I got one for my grandma and she uses hers to portion out meals

>> No.19624532

>>19622647
Yes.
Use it for vacuum sealing meats.
I've made home made MREs with them.
Marinated meats with it.
Used it to keep food fresh for longer period of time.

>> No.19625787

Yeah so I can buy five kilo old amsterdam for cheap without having to worry it going bad.

>> No.19625790

Your mom

>> No.19625847

>>19623243
so did i. but then i switched to the vac sealer.

>> No.19626311

>>19622758
I use mine mostly for coffee, I have used it for steaks in the past but I really hate the idea of buying a bunch of food and just freezing it for weeks on end, plus I don't have a large freezer at the moment so it's impractical to have weeks worth of frozen meals.
