Depends on the material. If it's glass/ceramic/metal then you can just wash it.

Im very happy with my aeropress + electric grinder combo, however, so far I have only bought coffee beans from a Tchibo near me (im in EU), I tried most of their stuff, like vienna melange, latin grande, afric blue, etc., but they all seem to be on the same note and not differ too much from each other. Dont get me wrong, they are still very enjoyable, but do you guys have any other recommendations which beans to try? Something with really impressive or uniquely different taste?

Got a espresso from a small established local shop in downtown Chicago. A little bitter. A little smokey, I guess would be the right term? What's the flavor note when the coffee is a little earthy and dry and smoky? Very smooth. But other than that not very flavorful. Just very smooth and basic dark coffee flavor. Nothing like a bright fruity flavor explosion of some specialty beans in my home machine. Was pleasantly surprised at how decent it was given the expectance of most coffee shops having butt quality espresso.

Yeah, stop comparing what you're tasting to what you're watching on youtube. If you want pretty rattailed shots like you see on instagram or youtube shorts, buy dark roast. What flair are you using and if its a 58, what basket?

>> No.19625372

I'd use those for seasoning and just source some good coffee. You're going to chase your tail and get discouraged trying to turn starbucks beans into good espresso. If you want to play around with them while you're seasoning just make some cortados and let the milk neutralize some of the shit notes. I'd be running like 185f water and have the flair's heater on low to start with. No need to slam for 9bar. Guessing you have the valve plunger so make sure to keep your fill/lift times consistent. Fill with lever down, slow lift up while the air bubbles out of the chamber, then top it off when the plunger is completely up. Gentle preinfusion until your basket fills in completely and just go by feel. If it feels like you're pressing into concrete, you're too fine.

does anyone else here have Crohn's disease?

McDonalds coffee is the best for my stomach, pretty much all other Western coffee makes my asshole feel like it has fiberglass thorns all around it.

Eating food before drinking coffee helps suppress that feeling.

Also, oddly enough, I could drink all the coffee I wanted to in Vietnam and my stomach and asshole were never better. Egg coffee or coffee with their sweetened condensed milk somehow made the negative effects disappear.

Italian here.

7 grams is the unique standardized espresso dose, we don't call it "single shot" and "double shot" doesn't exist here.
When you order an espresso you get a 7 gr dose of coffee for a yield of roughly 30-35 grams in the cup so the ratio is 1:4 to 1:5.

You're not alone. Dialing in a coffee to "pop" in a milk drink will be a little different than dialing in a straight espresso shot. Some people(psychos) run entirely different grinders/burrs just for their milk drinks.

Trust me, you can tell when it's made with bad espresso. It's drinkable and not nearly as bad as drinking straight bad espresso obviously, but you can absolutely tell when it's totally fucked. Similarly if you use a more juicy espresso the cup feels very different even after you add the milk. Most likely the espresso you make just doesn't have enough of a dramatic variation in taste for the good and bad to be noticeable under the milk.

So, what now?

1Zpresso betrayed their customers and changed their burr supplier downgrading the quality to shit, Kingrinder it's the same thing produced in the same factories by the same parent company, so...what is the new reference manual all round grinder that replaces the JX Pro and all the other 159-179$ models?

I was going to post about this but figured none cares/ it doesnt affect me if you guys get fucked over. Now would be the time to buy one of you want it. Quality may dip in the coming months but older stock will still be sitting at various retailers for a while. That being said, just buy a kinu. Might be $200 but they're not chasing the bottom of the market.
>>19634773
A single batch of a single 1z grinder had issues. We don't know how that will affect the rest of the lines yet, but it's good to note. Somehow the Italians are dead last to the party and with zero innovation. Kinu, Apollo, Knock, and 1z themselves have been using those burrs for years. Eureka "innovates" by copying comandantes body and glass cup. There's a reason dante ships with an extra plastic one.

Yeah the phoenix is a very good deal, but I think a lot of people getting in on this shit aren't going to be willing to drop $200 on a grinder. $100 was pushing it.

>> No.19635215

>>19635178
Oh I know. I said nearly the exact same thing a thread or three ago. The problem with the $100 crowd is they think that's the price of a "premium" product. I think $200 is a much more reasonable ask for "premium" and it's already a stripped down version of the classic. You dip any lower than that and manufacturing quality has to suffer. The phoenix in particular is a hard sell because you could pick up a k4, k6, and a bag of coffee for the same price.

>> No.19635238

>>19635215
People that want a good grinder at $100 know they're not getting premium, they just want to know they're getting their money's worth because they're used to spending $0 on grinding. And I'll say that with the k4 and k6 they really were worth their money, it's a shame that they're going down the shitter because despite not being SUPERIOR GERMAN ENGINEERING they were still very nice grinders.

The 64mm flat burrs will be a different profile than the k6 and you can put in others later to tweak it. Its a more versatile (filter) grinder. It just doesn't have a strong enough motor to last if you're grinding espresso fine. Not an issue for the manual k6. While electric might be more "consistent" than manual, manual's benefit is the much lower rpm.
