Since when did curry sauce on fish and chips become a thing? We always just doused it in vinegar

Fish and chips with malt vinegar is better just in terms of fish and chips. Good tartar sauce is also better than curry sauce in my opinion, but that's harder to find than malt vinegar.

Fish n chips is good, but putting curry sauce on it just seems like something an immigrant would do. If we had to put dressings on fried foods then I think fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy would be better.

>> No.19618012

>>19617991
Not really a cope, more of a fact.
You all seem to rave above Japanese curry but who do you think introduced it to Japan?
It was Brit sailors.

When we first started venturing into India we took spices back and made our own curry (albeit a bland generic version) British curries were often a kind of beef sometimes chicken stew with curry powder, small chunks of apple and sultanas, my Nan used to make it back in the 1960's.

>> No.19618026

>>19618012
None of this changes the fact that your national dish is served with third worlder shit colored spiceslop. Have some respect for your native cuisine

>> No.19618050

>>19618026
Ok, let's get this into perspective.

Up North, they tend to go towards Mushy Peas as an accompaniment but down South we go for a curry sauce ( I live in the West Country with a very low pajeet count) The curry sauce used on chips has a very 'katsu' flavour to it, nothing like Indian stuff.

Having said that, we do like Indian curries too, much the same as you like your 'Beaner slop' .

>> No.19618085

>>19618050
Totally different. Beaner slop is the native cuisine, not some imported third world sauce used to defile traditional foods. We don’t serve salsa with Thanksgiving turkey. You guys let the jeets cuck your traditional food

>> No.19618149

>>19618085
I get the feeling you are just arguing for the sake of it.

We took spices because we liked them, we made it ours. Heck, we used spices from the east before your country was invented.

And let's face it, America invented NOTHING, it's all adaptations of existing foodstuffs.

It is was it is anon.

I think you know this.

anything unique about the sauce for fish and chips as opposed to any other generic yellow curry? would love to try this but will have to cook it myself. looks a bit thinner than most curries I’ve tried

>> No.19618321

>>19618270
There is nothing unique about it and yes OP's pic does look a little thin, often thickened with corn flour, sometimes it has plump sultanas in it and I have found sweetcorn in it sometimes, depending on the chippy.
It's normally served in a polystyrene cup and plastic lid, some people pour it over their food but I prefer to dunk my chips or battered sausage.
Maybe I should make a WEBM?
