>put chicken in ziplock bag under water in sink to thaw
>come back 25 minutes later, bag is full of water
>chicken marinated in sink water for 25 minutes
Is it still safe to eat? I'm unironically disgusted but I'm thinking cooking it in the oven should surely kill of any bacteria that might've come about?

yeah whatever critters is on this chicken is going to have a bad time in that oven, you'll be fine.

>> No.19607104

Depends how gross your sink is but it's not gonna kill you, it's only been half an hour and you're gonna cook it. Also /ck/ is a really slow board, you don't need a bump three minutes after posting.

Thank you. 15 minutes until chicken is done. I figured ill cook it for 5 minutes extra. It was in the sink for 25 minutes, I wonder if that is enough time for bacteria to completely ruin the meat beyond hope, but it's my last chicken and I have no other food left. The sink wasn't ultra dirty, but it wasn't clean either. About 2-3 dl of water got into the bag. Should be fine, right?

Thank you! Sink wasn't *that* gross, but I hadn't cleaned it for maybe 1 week. But I hadn't used the side I put the chicken in for many days, basically spilled coffee down the drain and other things. It wasn't clean, but it looked clean when I put the chicken in....

if your tap water is safe to drink why do you think it would be unsafe for the clean drinking water to touch your chicken? the chicken is objectively more disgusting than the water. if anything the chicken is now cleaner.

Yeah, whatever colonies of bacteria were in your sink are on the chicken now, but everything's always covered in bacteria and we take care of that by heating food. 25 minutes isn't long enough for them to multiply and shit out a significant amount of toxins, it takes about that long for e.coli for example to divide once.
And as Jacques Pepin says, if the bacteria is still living after a 450 degree oven, they deserve to live.

Haha. Thank you anon. I could feel the chicken uncomfortably in my stomach still but after reading this it makes me feel better. I'm going to have to do something about these ziplock bags that keep leaking in water, it's not the first time it happens. It's disgusting.

25 minutes of thawing a frozen chicken is in no way enough time for the bacteria to have produced enough harmful shit to affect you my man

Your chicken is fine it's the sink you should be worried about. Chicken has some nasty bacteria that's why they say you shouldn't wash chicken the bacteria will get everywhere. I suggest getting a new sink.

do they sell antibiotics for sinks?

Nothing will have happened to it in that timeframe that won't be fixed by cooking it.
You will die though. Just probably not because of that chicken.

Yeah I mean, OP is a retard and it's a retarded question but that's forgivable. the persistence and inability to even comprehend the most basic of concepts, along with posting frogs, really put the nail in the coffin.

you don't submerge the whole bag, you clip the zipper part to the lip of the container and lean a plate on the meat to hold it under
