The perfect example of a failure of capitalism.

A restaurant perfect American Chinese and spread all over the country based on how delicious it was. It did not pretend to be authentic and nobody cared.

Then it was sold to some restaurant VCs. Portion sizes shrank, they changed and fucked up the sauce for their most famous appetizer, got rid of their table side services, changed their most famous appetizer AGAIN, shrunk the portion sizes, while constantly lowering the quality of ingredients at every step. Its very obvious they are trying to be a step above PF Chang and want all their sit down restaurants go out of business at this point.

PF Chang is unique in that they fucked everything up so quickly that people know it wasn't just food memories from child hood or college time. Places like Papa Johns and Pizza Hut actually were better in the past but they rolled out all the shitty changes thought up by an MBA slowly through A/B test of all the ingredients so that the shit added up over time. PF Changs changes were sudden and violent.

And its sad because it was perfect American Chinese.

I only went once and it was good. However, here in Mexico it is expensive compared to "local" chinese restaurants. It is kinda like high end chinese food here.
We ordered the wraps and some random shit that I don't remember the name but it was good. The drinks were not too good.
It is like 40 USD for 2 people in PFChangs vs 9 USD

Update, I just got back from there.

Food is surprisingly very good for a chain chinese restaurant. However, our server was lackluster. Also not as expensive as I thought it'd be.

Would go again, but with better service.
