Writers draw up a list of pros and cons when designing each character.
The black characters aren't as fucked up as the white ones.
Their pros are slightly better and plot relevant, and their cons aren't as bad and more easily remedied.
Their personalities are more forgivable and even when they get shit on by other characters, it's usually because the other characters are assholes.
The young black female protagonist especially has the Superpower Negative Trait of mainly being inexperienced, which isn't an actual personality defect; it's because le white patriarchy didn't give her a chance.
You'll notice that this is also the trait of the baker retard.
