>> No.19544113

yeah truly i give them a perfect score. i remember as a kid feeling the anger of my friends mom when she would bring us to the mall and immediately have to spend $50 on like three pretzels
in hindsight though it was her own stupidity for bringing us through the entrance where the first fucking shop was auntie ann and the smell would overwhelm anyone

>> No.19544212

i didnt realize how big auntie anns actually is until googling it just now
and btw OP pic is from a copycat auntie ann recipe
i really thought they were like a sort of regional franchise type thing. astounding that they have 1200+ locations

yeah but they're not going to be the same. the auntie ann pretzel has a quality that you can't mimic at home. it's like a cheapness to it, a shittiness but in a good way. difficult to explain but yeah i wasn't like trying to call you out for posting a soft pretzel pic that looks delicious. im the one who brought up this auntie to begin with so dont worry bro your heart is pure
she looks like a real piece of work. probably talks real loud and drives a jaguar to meet with franchisees

Where do you live that only 3 pretzels is $50? My mom would always make me and my sis split one

it was westfarms mall in west hartford, ct
might be farmington or something. but it was called westfarms mall. big money area, regardless
also this was like 25 years ago. even then i understood that charging $8 for a pretzel was kind of fucked up but i didn't get a job until i was 15 and then it became even more scary

Remember when you could go to a mall back in the 00s, find a pretzel shop and get a giant freshly made one that was steaming hot and delicious?

>all this talk about auntie anne's
Yuuuuck.
I used to work there, but I still remember most of the recipe.
>flour (not sure how much, the bag's were unlabelled)
>half a cup? a quarter cup? something like that of yeast
>6 cups water
>mix
>cut up
>dip in water mixed with, uh, dunno if it was sugar or baking soda
>bake
>brush generously with butter
Wa lah. This makes a huge batch of pretzels, though, so you'd have to find numbers that work for a less industrial size.
I just use the Alton Brown recipe instead.

>three preztles for $50
few years back there was a mall near my girlfriends apartment complex with a large two story arcade that included a bar with alcoholic drinks, bowling alley, and a handful of pool tables. shortly after entering the mall from the arcade was a wetzel's pretzels on the corner. we'd get one order of pretzel bites with cheese dip for well under $10. the bag of pretzel bites was so large that it was difficult for the two of us to finish the entire bag togehter in one sitting.
