I love really spicy stuff and eat most Pregresso soups, but thought that was a level of spicy that was just nonsense.

>> No.19471475

when you realize that "spicy food" everyone eats is actually not that spicy.
simply because companies that make it that way do not want to be liable for lawsuits.
you are just a wimp. and non whites are totally exposed as weak mouths to hotter foods. unless you are buying real hot sauces directly, that Atomic hotsauce at your favorite restaurant isnt actually spicy.

I tried it once and holy fuck was it packing some serious heat; however, that was the only thing you could taste and I did not get it again. The chicken tortilla soup is not nearly as spicy but is well seasoned and quite filling for a soup

I had it last winter. To my memory of it, it was like eating watered down Fire sauce with a few chunks of overcooked SPAM tossed in. It was just mostly water.
Wasn't even close to being a good jambalaya.

anyone else think it is silly how we have a basically objective scale for describing how spicy something is, but instead of using it we have to rely on stupid thermometer scales and number of peppers that are completely subjective?

We don't actually since it will depend on what temperature the food is served at, the texture of the food, and other ingredients/food and drink you eat the shit with.

Flavor other than spice. You can do super spicy foods with complex flavor profiles. Progresso's generally pretty good about not having one note soup, but they fucked this shit up.

I am surprised at the number of people eating canned soup on the food and cooking board. Soup is super cheap and easy to make, literally impossible to fuck up. Hell, I'd say it's the first thing you can use to teach yourself to cook. Too salty? More water. Too bland? More salt. Really don't get it. I try to avoid canned foods as much as possible, too much sodium and, depending on the product, a nice metallic taste to go with it.
Start cooking dammit!

>> No.19478439

>>19478395
Canned soup is super fast to make and you can still season it. I'll generally toss ground pepper and some thyme in a lot of the more savory canned soups I eat or some red pepper in the creamy.

Just cause you're eating cheap shit doesn't mean you can't make it better.

And this is a "food" and cooking board. Soup is food.

I don't know why I can't handle spicy soups at all. My spice tolerance is usually pretty high except for soup. Even just a bit of heat in soups has my nose running like a faucet, but actually spicy ones make me cough and burn up my throat.
