Just bought 2 pounds of wild caught salmon fillets from whole foods for about $34.

Was this a good deal? Where should I get cheaper quality fish? I like fish protein better than chicken but the price is so high.

How should I cook it?

Catch it yourself, literally the ONLY way to get cheaper fish. Arguably not cheaper when you factor in boat rentals/trips and other licenses and equipment.

Seattle fag here, the local fish market is significantly cheaper and very high quality in comparison to whole foods. i wish i was more interested in seafood because of how good the local options are, i like salmon ok though and the fish there (kuzma's) is the best i've ever had. on a related note what's your preferred method of preparing salmon dishes? i like it grilled with some oil, thyme, paprika, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and served with lemon and tartar sauce

ocean eco systems are collapsing, expect prices to continue to go up and quality to continue dropping.

$17/lb is really fucking expensive for salmon. It was not a good deal, but if you like it then you should splurge and spoil yourself once in a while.
