What I know about the moka pot
Good for camping, power outages
Due to this, I have success without preheating the water.
Grounds can be compacted with hand, just don't use tamper force.
Dont use espresso grind, half the grinds will go up the spout and into the drink.
6 cup doesn't literally mean 6x250ml.
Stainless steel doesn't mold like other metal will.
Brikka fails at crema.
Fill water to below valve.
Put on high heat, takes roughly 6 minutes to start hearing bubbles of heating water.
Turn down low when coffee emerges, take off heat at sign of early sputter.
Flow should be smooth until it isn't. Then that's all you're getting from it.
Just pour it straight away, being off heat should stop brewing, cold tap to stop isn't necessary.
Paper aeropress filter does not ruin brewing, but I don't like to rely on having them around so I don't worry, I have tried it though.
Actual taste. Eh, it's alright. I'm used to my espresso machine though. Much more play with coffee amounts and grind size.
If you have a gas stove and frequently deal with power going out, moka is a must have.

So I have a honest question
What is a good exclusive espresso grinder for $200ish USD?
Already have the breville grinder that works great for filter and drip, but I know it lacks in espresso. I'm kinda lost because coffee Youtubers can be very hard to parse on questions like this. Or am I wrong and the breville is fine to stick with?

>> No.19422471

>>19422457
What kind of expresso machine do you have? If you have a breville one, the usually pump out 12 bars of pressure instead of the usual 9 bars, so you need to grind extra fine to pull a great shot of espresso.

There's always a hand grinder for espresso, cheaper since they don't require a motor.

For hand grinders I think you can get the kinu m47 phoenix for $200. If you want to go cheap the cheapest people recommend for espresso is the kingrinder k4.
On the other hand if you want electric I've heard some good things about the baratza encore esp and fellow opus, both of which are around the $200 mark although they're generalist grinders, so while they're capable of espresso they're not hyper focused on it.

Kayanza is a province named after its capital city. Kibengo is a washing plant in said province. The gakenke is definitely showing that clove note in the scent. Earthy spices. >> No.19426063

depends on the metal and where it was manufactured.
older metal cups and bowls and shit have a higher risk because people either didnt know or didnt think it was a big deal and once something is made and in the hands of the consumer especially when it is decorated and whatever its pretty hard to get them to get rid of it.
oh and gold or "gold" is one of the worst because it often has lead or other heavy metals in it.

no.
she mostly does it as a hobby(disabled and retired)
she was an artist by trade but all paints, never like clay and shit.
so the past couple years she has been doing it as a hobby with a local group.
mostly bowls, plates, tiles.
she actually made a nice bowl recently.
its the worst hobby she could have chosen
because she is disabled and cant carry any of it, i have to.
she used to knit alot, and was great at it but doesnt anymore because of pretty bad carpal tunnel, she says working with clay helps.
but because of her spine condition she cant use a potters wheel, so its very hard for her to make perfectly uniform and smooth shapes.
her last glaze was pretty good. her best yet i would say, i think its supposed to be a fruit bowl.
but i wouldn't accept a cup from her until she masters her glazing technique.
its not because im cruel but because i have an extreme autism thing with my skin.
if i touch something and feels "wrong" my whole body spasms and squirms.
and unglazed ceramic feels wrong to my skin so im not going to lie to her and say im going to use something when im not and have her go to the trouble of making something just for me and then not use it.
i should share more with the group...
4chan strips exif data/metadata/location data these days right?
i feel like whether i like it not i'll have to upload pics of some of the stuff i plan on doing.
otherwise what's the point.

How do you stop grinds getting into your coffee when you use an Aeropress with the normal (non-inverted) method? The filter seems to get a small wrinkle that lets a tiny amount of grinds through. Although I seem to get a small amount of drip after I insert the plunger to create the vacuum seal, so maybe I'm doing that step wrong.

>>19426750
I'm not pre-wetting the paper when I brew normally. Although I do pre-wet when I brew inverted (to stop the paper from falling out) and that results in a clean cup. So I seem to have the opposite result to what you have. Maybe I'll try pre-wetting when I brew normally tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.

Not 3 but at 2 and it tasted good, I was able to decrease the grit and by rinsing the filter with hot water prior to using it at least it sticks to the Aeropress cap and there’s no to minimal spillage of coffee when I invert the Aeropress.

Brewing with Aeropress vertically is totally useless because the water just passes through without any resistance.

I just drank a small cup of my cold brew and I’m surprised that it’s quite bitter even though it has been steeped 12 hours with coarse grind, also the coffee was 100% arabica.

I think that cold brew is an useless method if made without the proper equipment, I mean since the coffee basically tastes the same I can just use supermarket beans if the goal is to make cold brew with milk. I don’t want to waste my good beans for this.

being on call is pretty cool, just be available from x to y. and most days i only do like 1 hour of work, and its wfh.
some days i dont get called at all.

any second of the day shit could get real messy.

oh and i got the new standart issue, with a bag of beans, 60 grams this time which is way more than usual.
doesnt sound super interesting, colombian washed or something i forget.
