I want to work in a kitchen, but I'm scared of getting yelled at, fucking up and being stressed out. I saw Boiling Point and it spooked me. Are kitchens really that intense?

What level of cooking? Short order cook at greasy spoon diner? The only yelling will be about who stole the last joint. Ultra fine dining? If the head chef raises his voice HR will be having a discussion with him. Expensive, yet not prestigious restaurant? Even Gordon Ramsey would find himself shaking by the end of the shift.

Just chill out and be a dishwasher first to see if you like the environment.

Lol. Kitchens aren't really like that at all, dumb frog kun. In reality you spend most of your day sitting in an airconditioned room eating gourmet food and occasionally getting up to prepare something fun and creative at your leisure. It's a really easy going environment that isn't hot or dirty, and your coworkers are going to be really intelligent, interesting people who are all passionate about food and cooking. The pay is also great and the hours are really flexible. It's probably the least stressful job on the planet.

Getting yelled at and the stress was part of the fun for me.
I was a timid loser be toughened up quickly.
The people that threatened to rape me over the fryer were the same people taht brought me a beer at the end of shift.
It's jut commaraderie amongst men.
You can do it.

Never be afraid to ask questions but also don't ask too many that you speak over everyone else and do your best to ask those questions before the service starts. If you came up with a brilliant solution in the middle of a shift it's probably not your call to make unless it's a horrific fucking situation and there's no other choice.

its low paying and you basically go from the bars to fucking drinking and hopefully not fucking up at 3am just don't drink at the same bars as your coworkers because then retard server will out you for drunk baking which is like the whole reason baked shit exists

oh but also don't cloud you opinion with "no other choice" because you'll get thrown under the bus for making the right decision quicker than you'll be for the wrong one

My dad (baker his whole life) told me a story yesterday about when he was drinking on a Friday as a young baker and was drinking until 2am Saturday, slept for three hours and drove his motorcycle to work, still drunk, and started his baking job. Foreman told him to put more cherries into something and my dad, without thinking, tipped the 3 gallon container of cherries onto the food and just caused a wave of cherries all over the floor. He got asked to go home for the day. This was in Ireland
