Anyone who likes these is lying to themselves.
They taste gross, they smell gross, they have a gross texture, and the way they are supposed to be eaten is gross.
When I have an oyster it feels like I'm eating something that I'm not supposed to, like a random ball of sludge that I found the ground.

>> No.19386158

>>19385874
I don't actively hate them. But if I have a choice I'll always take clams or scallops over oysters.

That's why you don't eat them raw like most people do. They're 200% better when cooked. Either baked in the oven or fried.

Raw oysters are meant to be eaten on a saltine with a dash of hot sauce, or maybe a little horseradish. Of course they’re not good plain. Fried and Rockefeller are also amazing

>> No.19386315

Raw oysters are merely vessels for lemon juice, Tabasco, and mignonette. Get them small and not briney. Save the large salty boys for the barbie

I don't mind them raw (as long as they're fresher than tween bussy) but they're fucking amazing in chowda. Oyster chowder (oyster stew for the purists) can shit on even ipswich clam chowda if done right.

Long love oysters I says

I miss oysters. They’re too expensive now. One of our country’s main sources for oysters is in Florida and they’ve shut down their beds for several years and at least until 2025 after losing a lawsuit against the state of Georgia claiming their overuse of water was drying up their oyster beds. So if you’ve been wondering why oysters are so stupidly expensive now that’s a big part of why.

>> No.19387047

They're a rather acquired taste.. you need to enjoy fresh sea food a lot to really like them raw.

I like to have a bunch of oysters with some sauces and have some sake with them. But I like them alone too the brine they produce in has a unique flavor.
I make a scotch bonnet pepper sauce that goes well with oysters.

all I'm saying is the claim is debunked by default because it's been found to have never been bunked in the first place. this is how reality works anon.

now if you did have an actually robust and repeatable clinical trial evidencing oyster boners that would be different, but no such study exists.

This is a more recent trend with younger Americans, and it’s driving school cafeterias nuts trying to get them to eat normal food. They’ll eat things all nice and wrapped up or in a plastic box, but turn their nose up at seeing the food “out in the open” where it’s simply the line of food behind a shield where the lunch ladies all gloved and masked up put the items on a tray or assemble the sandwiches. The children claim, “I don’t want the air touching my food.” Part of it is because their parents serve them shit out of cans or frozen dinners or take out, but it got a lot worse after Covid. Poor kids. But this is not a typical American sentiment about food, “wanting it out of a package.” It’s generally one of the tells of an adult with Aspergers. But if the kids in school don’t grow out of this mentality, it could possibly become a part of the norm. I sure as hell hope not.
