Best McD burger. I don't get the hate for the middle bun since it basically disintegrates from the sauce and general moisture.

Unfortunately, the one and only time I ever used Doordash was for a big mac, and it arrived with one missing beef patty. I can't prove that the driver did it and that it wasn't a fuck up from the restaurent, but the idea of that filthy poor fuck tempering with my order, putting his dirty fingers on my burger and eating one of the patties on his way to my home makes my stomach turn. That association is burned in my mind and I haven't had McDonald's since then, like 3 years ago.

Thanks, Doordash.

In contrast, I know zoomers I work with who show me AI memes, and talk about wanting to try the Spider Verse Whopper (it's a whopper with red bun and black sesame seeds and swiss cheese, that's it). Yes. But are they interested in eating it? We were all little kids once and everyone has memories of being marketed into wanting something and then realizing it sucks. The only provable industry where meme marketing works is insurance. That's why they were first out the gate with meme commercials back in the 00's. Literally no one thinks about their insurance or cares and it's all basically the same. Food is just about the exact opposite of that.

If you have a choice and you're with your friends and it's eating at Meme King and any number of other places in the same area, I just don't see Meme King being a choice. It's fucking gross at this point. Their quality is terrible and McD's is so far ahead of them (and Wendy's) it's not even funny.

I could be wrong about things long term. They have new management so if they turn it around, that's great but I don't see it happening on account of the marketing one way or another. It's still going to hinge on the food and if they get their shit together with an app. That McDonald's app is killing it.

All music and games are popular by how much memes are generated.
Look at craft beer. Look at app advertising. TikTok shows ads to millions of kids every minute, it's not the same as watching a catchy Empire carpet commercial. Look at the staying power of cringy shit like Mr Clean and Ryan Reynolds memeing his phone and gin companies. Look at Dos Hombres tequila, it's all just on the Breaking Bad meme power.

If you've been on this site earlier than last year you'd know it's been that way since at least 07. I get what you're saying and I watched BK generate a fuck ton of hype. I'm not disputing that. But did it translate to sales? Not really. In fact, it probably hurt them way more than it helped.

I find it far more likely that disruption happens in the next few years if/when the economy stabilizes and some company can come in and adapt to the new realities and *specifically* target their business sort of like how Five Below did with retail. That is a zoomer store. We've yet to really see a zoomer restaurant chain. Everyone is still over-thinking things with apps and "ghost kitchens". But even if a new restaurant chain emerges for a younger demo I highly doubt they will be marketing their food with moldy sandwiches. There is no reality where that isn't a retarded decision.
