chopsticks are the perfect eating tool.
they are easy to make, and work as an extension of your own fingers.
instead of using a metal claw, or a metal scoop. or *gasp* bringing a knife to a dinner table.
and the only people who ever seethe about them are barbarians who dont know how to use them.

I know how to use them, but they make my fingers cramp. The spork will always be best.

imagine pre cutting steaks, then at the table you can just pick the pieces up one by one to eat.

Chopsticks are the perfect tool to eat food intended to be eaten with chopsticks. Noodle dishes in particular. Even in Japan they will give you the utensil appropriate for what you are eating. Go into a western style steak house and they're not going to give you chopsticks.

well they could, it's perfectly fine to eat a steak with chopsticks if you precut the meat.

You cut the crust from toast don't you. You're not human.

just to eat them on their own.

i dont.
but its perfectly fine to precut your steak. you can use a kitchen knife which is larger which makes cutting easier. you don't need to damage your dinnerware with your knife, or make unpleasant scratching sounds. or have trouble cutting due to the small uneven surface of a plate.

Chopsticks are good for grasping food you don't want to destroy on its way from the plate to your gullet, like steamed dumplings.

Sure, you could. It's just not the best way to do it. pre-cut steak is going to lose heat and moisture faster, I'd rather cut into that when it hits the table rather than have it be precut in the kitchen and sit under a heatlamp until it's actually served.

It is though.

They also work great to break up very large turds for smoother flushing.

do you have cerebral palsy or something that you can't pick up a dumpling with a fork?
