I've worked in shitty chains and actual pizza places and it's been one of the most popular pizzas at least since the 90's. I watched the latest season of Stranger Things for some reason and they had a scene where they shat on pineapple on pizza and that's when I decided to drop the show. I looked it up and the people making it are literally younger than me, and it's all just about playing on 80's nostalgia despite them not even being alive in the 80's.

Bacon is good, the problem with pizza joints especially creepy italian ones is that they overcook the bacon they usually overcook the bacon to make it goofy level crispy or just pour the bacon bits out of some bottle. Maybe the creepy italians are trying for some kind of smell.

work at a breakfast diner, our bacon varies a lot. some are mostly meat, most are mostly fat. nobody is going to take the time to trim a pre-cut rack of pre-sliced bacon.

They pre-cook bacon in the oven and if you've ever worked in a restaurant that does bacon that way all the prep cooks always want to cook the bacon until it's crispy, both because that's how they think bacon is supposed to be, and because it's much easier to chop up. Then you're putting crispy bacon on a pizza and baking it until it's completely overcooked.

People think that cooking is easy, but it's actually a dying craft and most people just don't think about all the different little steps that make a huge difference in the end product.

I think the allergy can go away. I had something similar where I was fine with peaches, then sometime later would get an itchy throat from eating them, then now, after not having peaches for a while, I'm fine with them again. Wish I had more specific advice, but might be worth looking into.
