But for the sake of discussion, I think salad should mainly be consisted of chopped vegetables, extras are optional. They still should have some texture. When your base is no longer solid, and is just a mush like in a original pic, then it ceases to be a salad.
Quick test if your salad is salad: can you eat it with a fork?
Of course, there will be exceptions and the intent is the key.
