I'm looking for a way to diversify my food income. Currently I get about 80% of my food from costco and about 20% from my local hyvee. Thing is I'm looking for ways to bring more ingredients into the house without spending more money. I know about food banks and I make to much for stamps or wick. Any anons have some input?

Stop shopping at costco. Costco is bulk, meaning a lot of your budget is tied up in single items, rather than variety.

Go to Trader Joe's. Spend 30 bucks and walk out with a cornucopia of new shit.

Walmart brand is always subpar on their ingredients. Kirkland by bulk and price always beats out Great Value and thats not even factoring in quality. My decanter of scotch I keep for guest is always refiled with Kirkland 12 year blended.

I'm a home cook so its quite impossible for me to get bulk ingredients anywhere else. Its extremely rare something we buy gets thrown out. Waste is not acceptable in my kitchen if its still in date and edible.

Hyvees and Costco kind of dominate the area, outside of that only options are walmart and mexican grocers.

This is a map of Trader Joe's locations in the USA. Most of the midwest doesn't have one.
