Try them on dark rye or pumpernickel. Mix cream cheese, a little salt, a little pepper, and some minced shallot. spread a very thin layer on the bread, add thin-sliced cukes. God-tier..

they do.
Had a QT3.14 from Manchester one summer...She'd butter EVERY sandwich.
I asked once why, and she looked at me incredulously and asked, "You eat yours on DRY BREAD??"
I guess salad creme isn't the same as Mayo?
She got me hooked on Tantric sex and beef tea too.

Me too. My favorite way to do it:
>Icelandic dark rye bread (the sweet one)
>a mild cheese like Gouda (wish I could use brauð ostur, but we don't have it in the US)
>cucumber
>a boiled or poached egg
>some finishing salt on top

Butter is a lot more common on sandwiches in America than mayonnaise. You're only thinking of Chicken Salad and Tuna Salad Sandwiches.

You're a lying sack of shit. What are you getting out of this? I could look up the statistics for it, but I've lived my entire life in this fucking country and know for a fact that hardly anyone uses butter over mayonnaise on sandwiches. Go into any sub shop and they all have oil/vinegar and mayo but I don't think I've ever seen one offer butter.

You must be in California or Washington. The rest of the country uses butter for sandwiches except Chicken Salad and Tuna Salad sandwiches. A thin butter layer is the secret to preventing soggy bread.

I used to not butter my sandwiches and toast the bread. I was a fool. Buttery toast buns are essential for every sandwich.
