I've noticed that the hivemind on here tends to always suggest eating locally, supporting small family-owned joints. That the food supposedly is of higher quality, "fresher", tastes better etc.
But in reality, nothing compares to a delicious slice of Domino's. The mom and pops are a cheap imitation of the real deal. But if I want to fit in and be a hipster contrarian like you people, I'm required to constantly trash the widely available popular choices like Papa John's and Little Caesar's. And cooking at home is no better than fast food restaurants. It's less convenient, more expensive, and doesn't match the flavor of a McDonald's or Popeye's. I'm tired of pretending to be sophisticated, we're not above it all. We're not better than the normies that consume junk food on the daily. I'm going to enjoy my options you can keep acting stuck up but you're not superior.

Locals are good where I live. Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Domino's have tried to establish themselves here and all have failed. In a metro area of close to 7 million people, there are innumerable local pizza joints while PH, PJ and Domino's only managed to establish one location each and all three seem to be failing.

Most local places are absolute garbage. You aren't obligated to like any of them.

There are some that are phenomenal, but they usually become super popular and pricey and then it doesn't really make sense to frequent them too often.

There's nothing most of you average hole in the wall places do better than a chain place though. They use way cheaper ingredients, they don't have standardized operating procedures so they're often less clean, their food is inconsistent, and they mark up their shit by way more.

If you have a local place you like, treasure it. I'm sure it's awesome. Otherwise, stick to a chain. Don't trust some dirty ass hole in the wall place to be serving you actual food.

True, usually. My local Dominos is the only place I consistently go to other than Jersey Mikes. There is one pizza place that is the exception and that's Mellow Mushroom. Sure it's a "chain", but not really. And the deal is all their shit sucks unless it's the lunch special and you buy by the slice during lunchtime. By the slice, double ovened MM pizza is pretty badass and inexpensive. Best and cheapest lunch in town.

No. Local does not always equal better. There is a greasy spoon type place that is "local" near me but is absolute dog shite for food. Any chain or fast food place could beat the fuck out of this place. Same with the mexishit joints in my town, most suck hard, but there are one or two that are tolerable. Now, that being said, some local joints can be fire, and better than chains. BUT, that depends on where you are and what the area supports. The main issue with local is it will be more expensive. For example:

1 topping small from pizza truck (local) = $13.25
Unlimited toppings from Mod (chain) = $11

The former has more cheese and a better crust, but the later is proper pizza oven baked pizza. Basically I pay for convenience and lose some options by eating "local".

Chains are nice though when traveling, you pretty much know what to expect and the only dice you roll are if the local instance is run by competent people or niggers. Plus you need to remember, hipsters live in nigger infested cities, and their chains are run by niggers, so their chains due truly suck balls, so that is why hipsters hate chains. It's because they are nigger run shitholes, CFA is the only exclusion because of the tight management. I've traveled enough to realize this is key to your enjoyment of a chain, because of the vastly different experiences I had at proper chains and nigger run chains.

Funnily enough, the chains are far slower for me. Both Applebees and Ledo's move at a snails pace compared to the local brewpub spot, pho shop and chinese place. At least for lunch. The same is true for Cracker Barrel and the other chains further away from me. I've never had any inconsistency from the local places either.

But I'm a lunch guy, so the dinner time may be opposite to what I experience at lunch.

Also, the brands themselves drive the prices up, so products like the Double Mac or the KFC bucket become luxury food instead of being cheap filler, losing its main selling point.
I know American fast food isn't the most delicious thing out there, but you're not eating Papa John's or Burger King the way it's meant to if you buy those in a third world country, served by third world country workers with second-grade ingredients, all to cut corners and bring the expensive brand to more and more places. little ceasars is trash, I remember it being better when I was a kid, maybe my pallete is more refined, maybe they use shittier Ingredients, idk. Papa Johns is greasy af and gives me cramps. Dominos is probably the best chain because pizza hut buys their Ingredients from the same place little ceasers does obviously. Truth be told I make a better pizza than all of them, home made dough with garden fresh red sauce made from my own tomatoes and oregano, garlic and onion. As for "local" places I am lucky enough to have some really good family restaurants that make real pizzas. Plenty of small ones that make garbage fast food too. You have to know what you like and try different places. In the case of local vs. dominoes it's just saying might-be-good mom and pop vs. corporate dogshit. That's nothing to brag about on /ck/.
