So the Jews have gotten me addicted to sugar, but I'm not letting them get the last laugh. Post sweets and candy recipes you can make from home, preferably easy and preferably things you've already tried and tested, though creative ideas are also welcome.

It's really easy to make a 5 minute custard with milk, egg, sugar if you cheat with cornstarch. Have it with some crepes. They freeze easy, and you don't have to put sugar in the batter, so you can eat them with savory things too. Add some custard, strawberries and powdered sugar. Better than any lil debbie shit and costs like $1 per large serving.

I make a double boiler with a metal bowl and a small pot then melt quality chocolate. Lay out some parchment paper. Then I drop pecans, almonds, and different berries in with a fork. It takes some time as you want to put a little care into covering them and taking them out. You lay them an inch or so apart side by side on the parchment paper and let them cool.

I freeze the berries to break them down a bit, then rinse them clean. Pat them a little bit and rest them on a towel. Let them dry off and finish defrosting. I'll make them individually and sometimes I'll cluster up the different nuts or berries. Fresh fruit is fine too. You need them to be dry as if you don't make sure of this the chocolate will seize and get hard then burn. Not a big deal just take your time drying and then dipping.

There's nothing as delicious as a fresh juicy blackberry in dark chocolate. It's a flavor combo that's near impossible to get. You need to eat these quickly as fruit will still spoil. This won't matter much as fresh chocolates like these will be eating quickly. I've put out big bowls of these at parties, literally turned around and they're gone.
