I recently saw that you shouldn't eat more than 2 cans of sardines a week because it contains heavy metals, is that true ?

>> No.19279779

depends, do you work near any large magnets?

>> No.19279794

Fish and shellfish concentrate mercury in their bodies, often in the form of methylmercury, a highly toxic organomercury compound. This element is known to bioaccumulate in humans, so bioaccumulation in seafood carries over into human populations, where it can result in mercury poisoning.

It's just Wikipedia. The fuck is wrong with you? It costs less effort to search for this info than to make this thread. Yes, fatty predatory fish aren't very good for you. But you need them anyway.

just ignore it to be honest. who the fuck cares?

i'm sorry I don't understand what you are saying

I think a man that eats more than a couple cans of sardine a week over prolonged periods of time has already given up on life so it's not like this matters at all.

>> No.19279808

>>19279777
No that isn't true at all. Sardines are at the bottom of the food chain so they don't accumulate heavy metals like tuna. Whoever told you that has no fucking clue what they are talking about.

Yes it's bad to eat alot of.

Heavy metal is breety cool so dunno how bad it could be for you

They do have levels of mercury and stuff but you’d have to eat an unreasonable amount of sardines to even get sick, like hundreds of pounds of deenz.

Yeah and sardines are the GOOD fish, in terms of heavy metals, because compared to everything else in the ocean they have the least amount. That's how bad it's gotten. The best fish you could eat, 1-2 times a week MAX. Tuna is more like 1-2 times per year, and Swordfish is like never in your entire life.

>> No.19282339

>>19279808
not only that but their life cycle is so short they don't have time to accumulate any significant quantity of heavy metals.
