I've heard you should just never wash them unless there's mold appearing and to always have a film of flour on it, like you do with oil for a cast iron pan

>> No.19272234

>>19272225
I never washed them. they just retain a little bit of moisture every time I used them.
by the time I started to notice they were a little damp and the dough was sticking to the bottom a bit, they were also already putrid.

>> No.19272263

>>19272234
It's delicate to get the right level of dampness, if it's still too wet after use, you can pat it with a paper towel
Also store them in a dry place with good ventilation

The thing you need to understand is that they are not officially classified as "candy". You will never find Gushers in the candy area of the grocery store, nor will you find them at any candy store.

Gushers are technically considered "fruit snacks" (basically just candy but made with some % of fruit puree and meant for school lunches). You can still find them today, next to the Fruit Roll-Ups, Fruit-By-The-Foot, and Dunkaroos, in/around the granola bars section of the grocery store.

It takes some degree of willpower for me to avoid buying them whenever I'm high. It's just so tempting.

>> No.19274248

>>19274232
That could very well explain it. I don't browse much in grocery stores, so I could be walking past wherever these actually are. I will explore more thoroughly; thank you for the tip anon.
And I don't think I could grocery shop while high, that does seem like a serious challenge from start to finish. In multiple ways.

>> No.19274249

Since I'm not some faggot who thinks I'm somehow special for keeping trivial knowledge away from lazy people:

IT'S JUST A FUCKING BASKET USED TO SHAPE SOURDOUGH LOAVES INTO MORE... LOAF-LIKE SHAPES.

Since it's made out of rattan/wood, it tends to get bits of dough/flour in the cracks and crevices, even when lined with cloth, which end up going moldy if left unchecked, rendering the basket unsanitary. They are notoriously difficult to clean, because as I mentioned, they are made of wood, so you can't really get them too wet or it will mess up the wood, and could just make the mold problem worse.

They are about as essential and convenient as they sound.
It's no wonder the other baker bro in here has never used one.

Can't you just line the thing with plastic wrap before putting cloth on it?

>> No.19274308

They fucking don't

>> No.19274310

>>19274279
Actually, if you actually read the OP and not just try to incorrectly correct other anons, you'll realize that the OP was asking how to clean the things, because he clearly uses them himself and finds difficulty in maintaining them. His question regarding bakeries' usage of them was rhetorical, as he was simply seeking methods for properly cleaning them, not how they are to be used (he already knows that part).

Also I don't give a fuck what the OP was asking, I just wanted to clear up some ambiguity for anyone stumbling into the thread and wondering what the fuck people are talking about because nobody in here has even once mentioned just what the fuck the thing is, aside from the OP's unhelpfully close-up picture of the inside of one (and his further obstinate refusal to elaborate), and one other anon's picture of the side-view of one.
