Alton is the bees tits, fucking love Alton. Sadly Good Eats inspired the worst and most annoying kind of cooking shows and influencers™, but Alton himself is legit, entertaining, and works incredibly hard to present the best possible content. the reason he quit Good Eats was burnout and the amount of pressure he put on himself to be absolutely perfect. almost fucking everyone on Youtube mimics him and they don't even know it - listen to the way Ragusea or Max Miller talk with that shitty smug pattern and cadence, it's all literally a pathetic imitation of what Alton was doing 20 years ago

His Good Eats days were great, Feasting On Asphalt would have been his next big thing if he didn't get hurt, after that the fame sort of went to his head and he started to feel infallible and giving his non-food hot takes.
He comes of as a sassy southern woman at times and it gets tiresome.
As base level cooking goes Good Eats and a few of his other videos are good gate ways into cooking.

Yeah but in a kind of "you had to be there" kind of way
He's not as relevant today and he faked his way through the first couple of seasons of Good Eats

No. During the lockdowns from the fake pandemic he would livestream cooking with his dyke wife. He was as pretentious as ever. The food was shit. It was fun trolling his chat tho.

Take a class. Learn from family. I am not going to sit and watch some dumb entertainer screw around with food in some perfect environment.

Read a cookbook if you want to know how to make something. Hook up to the internet and look it up on Lycos. It's literally as retarded as watching someone else play computer games. I mean Christ...

Julia Child can't cook. Neither can Marcella Hazan or Jacques Pépin. Parisian dishwashers come up with better dishes than this lot.

He just took Harold McGee’s 1984 book “On Food and Cooking” and turned it into a show. Everything Alton does is from McGee’s book. That also goes for all of the people who copied Alton Brown’s food+science format. It’s maddening that people like Kenji-Cuck get all the credit for McGee’s incredible research and hard work.

Late 90s early 2000 was the best time for cooking tv

>Alton Brown: actually explaining the reason and method behind cooking for the first time and dispelling stupid myths and wives tales while teaching fundamental techniques and skills
> Shops at Publix

>Paula Deen: great tasting southern food that with the relaxing feel of sweet southern grandma
>Was racist and based AF and wanted to have a slave wedding on a plantation

>Mario Batali: Italian classics as well as high end stuff for the time, solid technique, seems like a normal guy
>Has a hot ass wife, is still fucking so many bitches he gets canceled before that was even a thing

>Iron chef: one of the first cooking game shows, able to watch actual high class chefs and get into their mind, actual cooking, unique and interesting dishes, commercial but somehow has 100 times more personality and soul than chopped or other modern cooking game shows
>Let the battle begin

> Emeril Lagasse: doing coke, laying down classic Italian American and cajon food
>Baaam!

Somehow all the shows in the 90s early 00s were commercial and were shooting for Mass appeal trying to cater to as many people as possible, but yet they somehow felt a lot more genuine than today.
They all had different and unique personalities, Each show had a different feel. It was not like today where every single person looks talks and sounds the same. Now they all make the same recipes and have the same mannerisms and opinions and styles

You could replace Ethan jabroski, Max Miller, Adam rugosia, binging with buttfuck whatever that shit epicurious did after they canceled that goth baker chick. All the same, all identical soulless cash grabs with no heart.

Fuck David Chang, fuck that zoomie jewtuber with the curly hair that is trying to make you buy thousands of dollars of equipment, fuck pioneer woman her fake southern shtick it's 1000x more obvious and played out then Paula deens ever was.

Take me back boys.

>Black people are actually responsible for __________, not white people.

No, it was not black GIs and every fucking Southern GI would have knowlege of fried chicken.

In other words, it was white Americans and American corporates investing in South Korea while they also took advantage of the American chicken industry turning chickens in gargantuan chickens for meat.

tldr; get fucked you cultural Marxist piece of shit.

Basically this. In the early days of /ck/ most people credited him with getting them into cooking or at least really thinking about it in a deeper way than just following recipes. Now I can't stand all the e-celeb garbage that are blatantly ripping him off without any kind of quality control.

That said, he got most of his ideas from McGee or Julia Child, and once you're past a beginner level he's not very interesting. I still always recommend his first book any time I see a thread asking about beginner cookbooks, because it gives you a really good basic understanding of different techniques and what they do, and almost every recipe is solid gold.
