A lot of chips now are just some sort of potato paste pressed into a chip-shaped form, instead of actual slices of potato. The texture of the pressed chips isn't that good usually

Speaking of Lay's... has anybody tried the new flavors? These are nice, for the short time I'm able to taste them. I thought yesterday I was under the effects of dehydration, heat stress or whatever... and things were different today after a full night sleep, but after having some more just now, I'm noticing the same problem.

I think there's some chemical in these that are dulling my taste buds significantly. At first I can taste every nuance of the flavor, but several minutes later it becomes muted, as does anything else I try to eat. It made my spicy chicken taste plain and the ice cream as subtle as a shortbread cookie. Kinda scary.

I think it's just the salt and msg overwhelming your pallet. I notice the same thing whenever I eat too much junk food. After a while, normal food ends up tasting bland in comparison.

I'll probably get accused of "appeal to nature fallacy" or whatever, but something like Doritos, for example, is way more intensely flavored than almost anything in nature. I think it dulls your pallet after a while.

>> No.19263932

>>19263865
The BLT tastes nothing like a BLT. It shouldn't be hard to create an artificial bacon flavor, so to me it's a failure. The cuban has very distinct notes of rye and pickle though, almost tasting like Big Mac sauce.

>>19263905
Ehh, I dunno about that. I'm a junky mcfatfuck and not unused to eating processed, prepackaged death all day. I mean the meal I had was salt and pepper chicken which is loaded with MSG and spices and I can taste other things fine after eating it. So for these chips to dull my pallet where that chicken tastes completely unseasoned is extremely out of the norm for me. I actually thought they had under seasoned the chicken and sent it back for them to give it a second coating and it still tasted bland. That was all last night though. When I ate the leftovers today (before the chips) it was sufficiently spicy. So I'm quite convinced these chips specifically are what's fucking with me, but I would not at all be surprised if it's something only I'm experiencing due to my physiology. I tend to fall squarely in the "rare side effects" bubble when taking medications, so I already know I'm genetically weird.

Interesting. I know there a certain spices like sichuan peppercorns and sansho peppercorns that have a numbing effect on the palate. Those spices wouldn't really fit the flavor profile of a Cuban sandwich but maybe something similar is going on.

The drinks were just ok but those glass bottles made for perfect grav bongs. The way they manufactured the tempered glass left a tiny chunk of the bottom extra thin so you could easily punch through it without hurting the bottle's integrity or leaving sharp edges. Drill a hole in the cap for a bowl and you were set.
