I made a chopped cheese a few months ago for the first time, it is very similar to the things a burger has whereas the philly cheesesteak is more like a steak, obviously. They're both good respectfully in their own right, so it ultimately depends on what you're in the mood for. That being said, I've had quite a few nasty-ass philly cheesesteaks in my lifetime, usually due to shit ingredients or unwanted extras like canned mushrooms. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a bad chopped cheese sandwich.
