Randomly picked this up at the dollar store and it's actually pretty good. I never see anyone talk about it though.

What are some old school hot sauces that are good but fly under the radar because they're not trendy?

>> No.19240105

That's the best of the classic American hot sauces imo. It definitely mogs Tabasco and Texas Pete into oblivion.

That shit is shilled constantly on here. It is the best and is mentioned in every hot sauce thread. Do you not frequent the hot sauce threads anon?

Crystal is my designated redneck/Cajun sauce.
Frank's when not making Buffalo wings is a bit unusual and could be worth investigating.

Some MREs have packets of this hot sauce in them. Always appreciated getting it when I was in the field, it was pretty rare though. Most of them would have chili pepper flakes or little Tabasco bottles. Started getting the sauce myself.

How does it compare to Trappey's? I never ever see Trappey's in stores around here (New England)

You know what I mean. It's not like chipotle sauces when that shit was all the rage, or sriracha which succeeded it. It's just some old brand that's been around for a million years and it's not fashionable but it's good

>sriracha which succeeded it
Sriracha was around for a long time before every hot sauce brand decided to make a chipotle version.

I'm well aware. When I was a kid my mom used to put Huy Fong chili garlic on my tongue whenever I swore lol. Obviously I'm referring to sriracha becoming a meme sauce in the mainstream, autist

Crystal is my daily. I live is SE Texas and you will see this there over any other brand.

It's a basic, decent "hot-ish" sauce. Won't stand up to Tabasco, in heat or flavor, but OK.

I'm Cajun from NOLA. This is the go to everyday sauce for us around here. I like Texas Pete better, but Crystal has a good taste, just no heat.

Crystal, Louisiana and Red Rooster are classic American hot sauces. They are the default, and thus the best general hot sauce.

Marie Sharp's habanero sauces are my absolute favorite. Crystal makes a good green sauce too.

I think Tabasco is better. Honestly, though, I only use it on my food when I accidentally cooked it wrong and need to cover up the taste of stank.
I actually prefer to use soy sauce as a condiment.

>> No.19242513

I use it to make watermelon hot wings. No, I am not black.

people who get upset about hotsauces and have a collection of fucking wojaks and reaction images to post in every thread angry about it are far worse humans being than basically everyone else
