Are you Bulgarian? Every fucking Bulgarian I've ever known have had their iced coffee with fucking cola in it. It's like, 33% coffee, 66% cola and 1% non-Bulgarian rage over that sacrilege.
I tried it. It's not terrible but I don't see the appeal over a typical glass of iced coffee.

It's not something only I like, but only my family like: my dad used to stir-fry li'l smokies with pickled banana pepper rings with onions, lots of black pepper and a little soy sauce, the lot thickened with cornflour and served with rice.
Sounds ghastly on paper and probably very much would be to others but I like my dad's hapa sloppa.

I think this is the case for 99% of "local" cuisine. People grow up with something, or grow up watching their family eat something then start eating it themselves in their formative years, and it just becomes a sort of nostalgia-based taste that they acquire.
I personally would kill a nigger for some homemade rice and beans and meat (pork, chicken, beef idc) and a banana and maybe some beets. Well, I'd kill a nigger anyway, I'd even pay for the pleasure if I had the option, but you get the point. I grew up around favela monkeys and that's what I learned so to me it tastes a lot better than it really is. Probably the same thing with Japs and sushi and that nasty rice they use.

I'm aware of its meaning in French (more like "beaten" than "hit," btw) which is why I asked wtf language thinks it means "cold." In no language does it mean 'cold.'
As for the vague association with coldness, it's because of lait frappé IE milkshake or smoothie or, more literally, "beaten milk" in Canadian and Swiss versions of French. France proper as well as Francophone Belgium have abandoned the term in favour of milk-shake (with the hyphen) but it was, once upon a time, called lait frappé there as well.
Anyway, googling "lait frappé aux bananes," for example, will return dozens of recipes of Quebeckistanis making banana milkshakes/smoothies.
