i dont know the company(it's not disclosed) but ive been working on gauging ai voice enhancement to make poos sound like native north american English speakers and it works pretty well if the poo has a passable handle of english already. it's still pretty shit on the ones you only half understand what they're saying though. An AI system seems stupidly unnecessary for a drive thru. The last thing McDicks needs is a chatbot people can dick around with and get saying stupid stuff or exploit. We've had voice recognition since the aughts, it's a lot easier to have an automated prompt "welcome to McDonald's please place your order" and you say the things it adds it to the board and it goes "thank you go to window".

But if our recent AI boom is anything like literally every other AI development boom, it'll be a matter of over promising, under delivering, products which literally aren't AI marketing themselves as AI (saw this on a washing machine at home Depot yesterday), and misuse of AI for things that don't need AI making them worse as a means of chasing trends.
