What is your go-to oatmeal recipe? There are no wrong answers. TYIA

1 part oats 3 part water and then sugar on top

>> No.19213594

I cook them in half milk half water with some salt and cinnamon. Then I stir through some peanut butter and a bit of honey. Sliced banana and yoghurt on top. Some times I leave out the honey and peanut butter and instead have chopped walnuts and drizzle maple syrup over top. Or I'll put it all in a blender for a smoothie.

>> No.19213616

Oats, buttermilk, brown sugar on top. You get fresh, fat buttermilk and that's it.

>> No.19213893

1 part steel cut oats, 3 parts water. Bring to a boil for 1 minute. Turn off the heat and let it set overnight.

In the morning, add milk, frozen blueberries, vanilla, cinnamon, and maybe some pepita pumpkin seeds or flax seeds.

This is my oatmeal recipe I came up with after lots of trial and errot and it's the best:
4 parts milk
3 parts water
1 part oats (all by weight)
salt

Bring milk and water to a boil, add salt and oats, cook on high for a minute. Turn down to lowest heat and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Turn the heat OFF and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. Turn the heat back on (to max) and bring to a boil. Once it boils, stir plenty and turn the heat off, enjoy delicious oatmeal with perfect consistency.

Cook steel cut oats the day before for breakfast all week long. Cook bacon, set aside and crumble. Use bacon fat to cook mushrooms. Throw kale in and wilt, then mix bacon back in. Top the oatmeal reheated with the mixture and add on a poached or over easy egg, salt and pepper to taste.

2 parts oats to 3 parts water in my Zojirushi.

Then I add a bit of milk once it's done to help cool it down to eating temp and add some more moisture.

if I'm feeling like a bit of sweet I'll add a bit of honey or maple syrup.

Oats and water. 2 min. in a microwave. Take it out from the microwave and stir like a mofo. Put back in the microwave for 1.5 mins. Take it out, stir like crazy so it becomes smooth and soft. Eat.

Microwave is a perfect tool for oatmeal because it's just oat and water. And microwave works by radiating the water very hot so it gets absolutely boiled.

My doctor legit recommended me to start eating "overnight oats" in the morning to start losing weight and feeling fuller. Mainly to keep me full until lunch so I don't overeat/snack during the day.
I'm actually going to the store soon to pick up some things and I'm going to give it a try. I feel like sweetening it will defeat the purpose but I don't much care for just raw oats. I was thinking vanilla extract and some dried fruit would help. Maaaaaaybe a little honey.
Anyway thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Ok, been doing this for a while and I think I perfected a recipe at least for my tastes. Oh, also, I don`t measure anything ever.

>Get aproximately a cup or so (depending on how much oatmeal you want) into a small or medium pot, fill it with water and turn it on.
>Start a caramel going, when it starts to thicken a bit throw in some butter, after this chop pieces (big or small depending on how you like them on your oatmeal) of apple or pear.
>Cook the apple slices in the butterscotch-esque mixture for a while, until they get as soft as you like them.
>Throw in some water and then your oatmeal, at this point I keep adding oatmeal until I get the thickness I like, not too soft but not really hard, you can thicken it as much as you like.
>Enjoy

how bad did I do?
