Sup /ck/. I don't drink, but I want to have a case of beers in my fridge in case my friends and family come over and want a drink. I searched favorite beers but it was shit like Budweiser and Miller light which just strikes me as something people buy because it's cheaper but still ok. What's a good beer that's a little more expensive that pretty much any beer drinker would enjoy?

Taste in beer varies wildly from person to person. I'd take Pabst over just about anything else but that's just me.
A good universal beer to keep would probably coronas. They're bottled which is classier right off the bat and are a higher tier than Budweiser type brands
Just make sure you always have limes on hand and your guests will appreciate that extra touch even though you don't drink

>> No.19195923

I want to start with I drink Natural Light. But if I were OP, someone who didn't really care for beer but wanted some available for guests, I would recommend Heineken. American beer makes you look poor. Heineken is not super expensive, has good aesthetics, and will please 99 percent of beer people because it's an inoffensive lager, very middle of the road decent all around beer

One of the few beers I would politely decline. Beer-flavored water. I have nothing against Mexican beer. Negra Modelo is very good.

Yuengling is a favorite, but as >>19195920
points out, it is only available on the east coast.

Pilsner Urquell is probably too hoppy for a lot of people (settle down, I drink IPAs with thrice the IBUs).

Budvar is tasty, but may be hard to find.

Budwiser, Coors, Miller, Rolling Rock, etc., these are beers for people who want to get drunk cheaply.

That leaves Stella Artois (though if the beers in OP's pic were my choices I'd opt for Hoegaarden).

Like a lot of posters have already said, Pabst Blue Ribbon is a great all around beer, but OP explicitly said he didn't want to look cheap.
I would be fine with PBR, but if it were for guests you run the risk of looking like white trash.
I think all American beer is disqualified, because the only American beers that aren't white trash tier are tryhard shit like Sierra Nevada.
After careful consideration, I think Bass Pale Ale is the best option. It isn't some hamfisted over the top, zero subtlety tryhard IPA shit, it isn't white trash. It won't scare away women, it won't offend regular joe 6 packs, it won't make you look like a tryhard douche like most European beers would

Stella Artois, Corona, Sam Adams or Labatts are all relatively safe bets imo
once you get beyond that it's harder to please everyone, like some people suck IPA's dick while others including myself detest their taste. if you're not a drinker yourself just stick with the basic stuff, they can bring their own if they're that zealous about a more niche beer

Anyone ITT suggesting craft beers and IPAs do not know how to play to a crowd. Something easy to throw back and widely known and available is the way to go. Any person who would be bitching that OP doesn't carry the local shitty IPA #6543 isn't worth having over, whereas most people would be happy you stocked anything in the first place.
Get something like Stella or Pilsner Urquell and be done with it.

your safest bet is a lager, pilsner, or wheat beer. you could go one of two ways: get those kinds of beers from a local brewery - people like to see that kind of shit and talk about it, and sometimes local beers are pretty good. alternatively, you could just buy the slightly more expensive beers of popular brands - your Stellas, Miller High Life, Sapporo, etc etc.

Budweiser, Miller Lite, and stuff like that is standard tier. Busch Light and Natty Light are the cheap shit. OP, you’re overthinking this. Just think about the top 5 people most likely to come over and have a beer and go with what 3 out 5 of them would like. Know your audience and cater to them.

>> No.19200301

Beer preference is so personal that it's impossible to say. For example a stout drinker could potentially turn their nose up at even the finest Belgian and vice versa.

A wise man once said my favorite beer is free, my second favorite is cold. But you should get Yuengling. And if you like the people drinking your beer get the black and tan.

Other easy 12 packs that are inoffensive would be Stella, blue moon, Sam Adam’s, Heineken. Don’t overthink it, people that enjoy beer aren’t gonna be picky when it comes to lagers.
