street foods, that could literally be said of any cultures food. there is plenty of korea restaurant food that is healthy, but your knowledge of korean food is limited to the shit that has been exported to the west, ie the unhealthy shit amerilards will actually eat.

yellowfag here, growing up we wok fried which was often synonymous deep fried. But my mother would always make her own fried tofu for use in stir fries. Several times a week she'd use a mini grill we had in the backyard to grill heavily marinated meats. Vegetable and meat stir fries were a daily meal basically and a side of a light brothy soup. My household as well as extended family's houses commonly made fried, grilled, souped/stewed, steamed food

I love Asian food, but my only issue with it is that it seems like a lot of Chinese recipes use sneed oils. That Chinese red chili oil that is so popular is just red peppers, peppercorns, and other spices mixed into canola oil.

I'm dating a girl from a Burmese/Chinese family. Some food I've had at her parents' house:
>extremely labor-intensive noodle dish with tons of ingredients that you have to mix with your hand, including: raw onion, fried onion, fried garlic, fish oil, thin cucumber sticks, finely cut lime leaves, some kind of oil they don't know the English name of, shredded shrimp, chili sauce, and sometimes a Burmese curry dropped on top (it's actually pretty good, but I just don't get why it exists, and it always fucks up my stomach)
>basic soups with chicken broth, mushrooms, corn
>curries
>simple noodle soups
>soups with a texture of mucus (horrid)
>desserts including: a soup made of tapioca in liquid taro or cream soda; some kind of dried sour fruit; candied nuts; sesame balls
>rice porridge with shrimp in it (stinks up the house like you wouldn't believe)
>fried meats
>leafy greens fried in garlic, MSG, and oil
>miscellaneous "scrap" foods like pig intestine, jellyfish, chicken feet (I don't eat these, but I did try them)
The food is weird as fuck, I can't figure out why they do things the way they do.
To be fair, the most common way they eat day-to-day is the fried/grilled meat with fried greens and rice. It's simple food that tastes good, just a lot of oil.
