American farmers are under contract. They're obliged to deliver x amount of meat per month. If they manage they get better pigs who produce more meat the month after. If they don't they get their pigs taken away and they're replaced with worse performing specimen. Not that the farmers can help any of that: they're under the same contractual obligation to feed their pigs X times a day with food Y, and Z amount of light.

Of course it's going to end up being a disaster cooked up by autistic nerds who know fuck all about animals and their welfare/taste.

America is the outlier here. As mentioned in >>19161932, bacon is cognate with the word "back." The American standard of belly bacon goes against the etymological and literal meaning of the word. IINM, American labelling laws actually require that bacon must be made from belly.

Most Australian beef is grass-fed, which gives it a stronger taste and darker colour. American beef is typically grain-fed in a feedlot, which gives the meat less cow flavour, lighter in colour and more fat.

I'm Yuro in Ameriland and have lived in Asia, too.
American meat in general tends to have a less pronounced taste compared to the same meat type from elsewhere. It's not bad, just not as pronounced. American lamb, as rare as it is to buy here, simply doesn't have a very strong flavour for some reason. If you like lamb's lambiness, you won't like Amerilamb.
Veal is similarly less pronounced. In my country, veal comes in two grades, white and pink (from older though still not yet full grown calves). Probably unsurprisingly, pink veal has a beefier taste than white but it's simply not available in the US and the white veal sold here is itself less flavourful than white veal sold back home.

Do no, it doesn't taste like shit. It just doesn't taste as lamby, which is a moot point since most lamb sold here is either Aussie or kiwi anyway

Only if you're talking about grocery store meat. We have plenty of access to fully grass-fed meat of all types with just as strong of flavors and just as nutritious, but you have to leave the grocery store and look to farms who sell direct to consumer. The main difference with Australia and New Zealand is that their grocery store meat is more like our small farm meat due to not having a ridiculous agriculture industry that fattens animals unnaturally with corn and soy to save time and money and maximize government subsidies.

Absolutely true, yeah. You can get American products of very high quality, rivalling or even surpassing that of imported goods but the main issues with getting any are access and price. Hard to find in stores, buying in bulk is a bitch and why should I pay $15/lb and up for good quality American lamb when i can get Aussie/kiwi stuff for roughly half that?
Same with chocolate. There's a really good chocolatier based in the DC area making fantastic bean-to-bar chocolate. Costs $12 for 2oz (a little over 50g). Why the shit would I buy it when I can get imported chocolat de Gruyères at under $17 for a 100g box?
