Try another $1000
Because that's when machines get decent and have the bare minimum of settings needed for good espresso

That might get delayed, or fail to deliver on its lofty promises, or just never come out at all. I'll wait until someone has it in their hands and several third parties with no involvement or stake do an impartial review. That thing needs a lot of complex software and mass production.

Anyone have any experience with these electric milk foamers/heaters? Heating and foaming small amounts of milk is a bit awkward for me since I don't have a microwave and the smallest pot I have for my gas stove is still relatively big (so I have to end up transferring the heated milk to another container just to whisk it).

For their espresso drinks they use the same shitty superautomatic machines every fast food place does that pulls crap shots and nobody ever cleans. For their drip coffee it's just your bog standard industrial drippers and it sits around getting burnt on a hotplate. If you manage to get a cup right when they make a fresh pot it might be passable but it's not going to be good.

You could just get one of those pod machines, anon.

But I'll say it upfront - they're overpriced and shit.

You're options are more or less as follows:

1) get a pod machine: they're convenient but overpriced and make shit coffee. You'll still also need to get a bunch of flavoured pods.
2) get or make a bunch of coffee flavoring syrups.
3) get a bunch of flavoured coffees and figure out a method that makes good coffee for you.

You can do whatever the fuck you want since you seem so intent on the pod machines, but I'd recommend option 3. Pod machines are pricey disposable crap, and the convenience they have is double edged when you realize they aren't versatile at all if you want to change things up. A ten or fifteen dollar French press will do the same thing a hundred dollar Keurig will while costing less and charging you less for the coffee you're using.

If you have the cash to splash out, you can get better coffee from a higher-end machine. It'll run you about $150-$200 (usd) though. Pick one from here https://sca.coffee/certified-home-brewer.. I like the Oxo 8-cup. It does a pre-infusion cycle automatically, keeps the water perfect temp, has a showerhead with lots of ports to distribute the water very evenly, has a thermal carafe and no heating pad so it doesn't scorch your coffee, etc.

I have one that's a smaller version of the currently for sale Sage/Breville Choc and Chino Milk Frother and it's fine. These all work on the same idea, a magnetic effect spins the whisk in the bottom to aerate the milk and heats it with an element under the jug.
They usually come with one proper whisk for making highly frothed milk, and a second spinner with no whisk bits that will still make some froth but is mostly about mixing (I use this one for mixing instant coffee).
Most have three main settings,
My one tip is to get the biggest one you can because frothed heated milk expands in volume massively and even if you stick to the fill lines, using the frother whisk will often see milk bubble over the top and burn on the heating element.

Does the brew taste weak and sour or just overly acidic but with good strength? What ratios are you using? What kind of brew time are you seeing?

Bear in mind that the lighter the roast the harder it is to extract, so you need higher temp, finer grind, or both. For example, the Hoffmeme generally advocates using water at a full boil for actual light roasts, so don't be afraid to push it all the way up there just to see what the difference is and adjust from there if needed.

Also worth noting, how old are the beans? When were they roasted? How are you storing them?

Makes sense, I'll try moving up to boil and grinding a bit finer

>Does the brew taste weak and sour or just overly acidic but with good strength? What ratios are you using? What kind of brew time are you seeing?
I suppose more on the acidic side. The caffeine is definitely there, it just has the mouthfeel of tea (kind of thin/watery?)

>Also worth noting, how old are the beans? When were they roasted? How are you storing them?
The beans are usually under 2 weeks out from roasting. I get them from a local roaster and store them in an airtight jar away from sunlight after opening the bag. I keep an opened bag in the container for up to 3 weeks.

Yes and yes. Its not some magic tech thats going to make bad coffee good. Its something (cheap and easy) to try when you've got great coffee and want to see if you can make it even better.

Another little tool that might help out is the metal oxo spouted shot glass. The guy who desigs Acaia's products shilled it to me on discord. Holds 60+ml, wide, cools quickly and pours great. Thats what I usually use when I'm pulling a shot for an iced milk drink.

Yeah that definitely sounds under-extracted. If it seems like the brew is going particularly fast, grind finer (targeting ~3 minutes total brew time for something like a v60 is pretty normal, not sure how different that is for chemex, though I know the thicker papers tend to slow things down in general so maybe target a bit longer on that). If you're pretty happy with the time, go hotter. Push both until the cup turns out slightly more bitter than you want then back it up and you've found your sweet spot.

Moka coffee is stronger than espresso, 1 cup (espresso size ~ 6-7 grams of grinded coffee) has about 120 grams of caffeine and you don’t want to exceed 400 grams of caffeine daily to avoid the collateral effects, so it’s good for 1x3 cups of coffee or 3x1 cup of coffee.

>static with grounds
You have an imbalance between the charge of the particles of coffee and the grinder.
I speculate you don't do feng shui.
One way feng shui promotes balance is by using the five elements: fire, earth, metal, wood, and water. Flowers, plants and trees, and wood furniture are all great ways to incorporate wood into your home to harness creativity. Try adding candles or shades of red and orange to maximize the fire element.
