As someone who moved to Chicago and has lived there for nearly a decade

Thin crust is garbage, its main use case is for people hosting an event that want to punish their guests and save money, and I don't actually believe anyone enjoys it They are just being facetious or they are part of the shitty vlogger class like in Philadelphia, where nearly every thing has been said about the actual good regional dish and they have started pretending that actually a crappy dish that is also regional is better so they can get likes. In Philly its Broccoli rabe over a cheesesteak. In Chicago its thin crust over deep dish/stuffed.

Deep dish isn't a food you can eat everyday or even every week. But its objectively a good style of pizza, that can compete with Detroit, NY, and Italy.

Thin crust is basically shitty tomato sauce and cheese of cracker heated up that pushes the limit to how cheaply you can make food and people will still pay for it.

Also stop defaulting Lou Malnati. Its not bad but nearly every other famous deep dish place is better and has less watery sauce.

I just tried to cook pizza in my Kamado today first time and it was a fucking disasters. The dough was sticky as shit and couldn't even slide it on the pizza stone. It all toppled over and cooked uneven and i got scared it was gonna burn so i took it out and ate raw dough cause it was under cooked. Im gonna just stick to the oven.

depends on the pizza. but yes an average restaurants burger is a lot better than the average pizza. Mainly because you can buy in decent buns, and the meat is the most important component anyway. Pizza margins are highly sensitive to the cheese so they use disgusting or bland shit to save money and most people working at pizza places are too retarded to manage dough so they have to devise some dough factory to bring balls in or even freeze premade crusts. Outside of places known for pizza, most metros have only a couple of actually good pizza places for every million people. I guess it's a blessing in disguise that most people are fine with dogshit when it comes to pizza.
