What's the most expensive piece of kitchen equipment that you own? Large appliances don't count.

Probably the bread machine or air fryer. Everything else was sub $50. Maybe a knife I was gifted could be in the triple digits, but since it was a gift I don't know it's actual value, since it was free to me.

I have alcohol more expensive then most of the crap in my kitchen.

I got a great deal on it but I think it was still like 580 CAD with tax included

I got it for like $130 off normal price. I have two others from the series and they're superb.
Expensive AF but worth the price. And I'm on a low income. Step up your cookware game, people.

Trust Amazon sellers. Their curiously inexpensive Le Crus pans are completely legit.

Yeah I do actually. Get to know your local cookware stores. Some of them sell these for a lot cheaper than the company stores or online. I got all of the 3 pieces from the line I have on sale, sometimes for a lot.
Maybe some smaller cities would be harder to find these on sales, but you should be able to save a lot of money on them once you know where to look.

Don't go out and grab them immediately at normal price, sit on your money and wait till they're on sale. You should be able to get them on sale somewhere.

And once you have these things, they might literally outlast you. I scrub these fuckers down with a soapy SOS pad. I ruined the mirror finish but they look pristine as hell otherwise. They have titanium in the alloy so that might have something to do with it.
Anyways, my point is that you'll only have to buy them once unless you manage to screw things up very severely.

check out the Amazon warehouse section. Most of the times they are perfect, never used pans that were returned because the external box was damaged during transit or because the previous buyer changed his mind or ordered the wrong item.

Depending on what product you're buying, pick an alternative brand. Misen and Made-in offer some very good, very cheap stainless steel products that I would consider over most Le Creuset and All Clad steel, for example. All Clad can still be best if you buy some of their specialty stainless products, having more unique core options, going up to higher temperatures, and having a few other minor design choices that pull it ahead. But the price difference between cheaper competitors and the way their base model stacks up versus those competitors make it less than worth it in my opinion. The same is true for Le Creuset and many other major brands.

Don't follow their recommendations blindly, instead take a look at their more in depth tests and decide what suits your needs yourself.

Then, if you still want Le Creuset for whichever product you're choosing, follow the suggestions the other Anons gave.

How often do you have to tear it down and clean it? Does it get a lot of mineral buildup over 24 years?

>> No.19133868

I don't think I own all that much above $50 right now other than major appliances, all my small appliances and a lot of my old cookware were just hand-me-downs, and my actual tools are all from restaurant supply stores, very good quality for the money, but nothing top of the line or fancy.

Considering that, my chef's knife and a carbon steel saute pan at around $50 a piece. I'm not sure how much the older cookware cost, they're good quality but not major brands. Going forward the next pieces I'm hoping to add is probably a stainless steel skillet and enameled Dutch oven, and the two most expensive things I'd like to get eventually are a KitchenAid stand mixer and Vitamix.

these days i only use it to make one or two espressos a day so i only need to pull it apart every six months or so. my main issue is lubing the cam that activates the valves. i haven't seen any calcium deposits at all. ever.
i changed the rubber o-rings about five or six years ago so they should be good for a few more years yet.

maintenance is really easy on this thing.
