Long John Silvers has to be the most retarded looking fast food restaurant of all time. I have literally never known anyone who has ever been to one of these places, do people even actually eat here or are they just for decoration like those fake buildings in gmod maps that you can't actually enter

The reason I went to the one with the junkies and not the groid one is because the groid one was out of the way. The junkie one, I could step off the train at Front and Girard, grab some lunch, and get back on the train to go wherever I was going. The groid one was also near a train station, 52nd and Market (IIRC), but not one I often passed going anywhere. The train going in that direction only went through groid hoods, ending in Koreatown. Since there's nothing in groid hoods and I don't go to Koreatown much, it wasn't often I stopped at that one, especially because ytf would I when I'd just had lunch in Koreatown.

Worked at Long Johns in high school and outside the deaths of loved ones it was the most traumatic experience of my life.

>he'd also grope the female employees (all of whom quit because I'd tell them it wasn't safe for them)

>but we had regulars and I just kept my head down, tried to keep things clean, avoided the retarded cook as much as I could, and never ate there

>lights are on, can see the fryers are on, but the doors are locked and nobody is answering my knocks or the phone inside
>manager's has a regular window, decide to see if I can open it from the outside
>the fryers were going, place could burn down
>get to the window, see my manager fucking the retard on the floor of his office
>get spooked, but in my hurry I kicked up some gravel and shit

Decided to go back an hour later. It's really tense.
Get through my shift and I'm helping the retard close. He's turning off the fryers, I walk by him to start counting off the register and he just dunks his head right into the oil. His skin slid right off his face and neck and the worst part is he doesn't even scream, he just making this god awful gargling sound like he's swallowed two lungs of water. Called 9/11.
I never went back. Never asked for my last paycheck. Took me a year to even tell somebody else what happened and I still smell and hear the moment.

I unironically love their chicken. Whatever that malty batter they fry things in is uniquely delicious. They had one in my home town growing up, when it closed the nearest was several towns over and located in the hood. I mean that's fine. But if they were as nearby to me as a McDick's or Popeye's, I'd eat them several times a year at minimum.

The closest substitute I have found, the only thing I have found that replicates that batter flavor, is the Hungry Man Beer-Battered Chicken Fingers. It's not nearly as good, and they're battered long-nuggets rather than tenderloin cutlets like at LJS's. But there are times, not unfrequently, when I wish I could get that taste. If LJS disappeared from the earth, I fear that taste may be lost to mankind.

Oh and also fun fact: The first instance of DNA evidence being used to exonerate a false rape accusation was at that same Long John Silver's I mentioned from my home town. She was a teenage frycook there, had gotten rawed (and, she feared, impregnated) by her high school boyfriend, and roughed herself up and called the police to claim she'd been raped in the parking lot as a cover story. The man she picked out of a lineup at random was sent to prison for many years, but after she confessed to fabricating the incident he was exonerated on DNA evidence.

I miss that Long John Silver's.

Culver's currently dominates fast food fish. You can get a great fish sandwich made fresh or a couple of filets on a platter with fries. Any number of fast food joints can do Long John Silvers better than LJS can do what they do.

I haven't been to one in forever but this thread kind of makes me want to try it again. To bad the closest one to me is all the way on the opposite end of town in an area I almost never have a reason to visit. It wouldn't be worth the time/gas money for me visit.

I don't get all the hoopla about fast food fish. It's deep fried and fully cooked; it's not like they're serving sushi or ceviche.
