They make anything you can think of into casserole. Why?

>> No.19107368

I think this is more of a midwest thing, I've spent roughly a third of my life on the west coast, east coast, and midwest, and midwest was the only place that word ever came up

>> No.19107411

Barely an american thing. Casseroles are just easy and cheap grub to make in big quantities for the whole family. Or for one because burgers amirite folks haha bazinga jkjk fr.
Kick the americans out of your head btw. They're not even paying any rent.

I like casseroles when made properly. I dislike the recombinant cuisine "food" a lot of Anglos "cook" using a box of Boxed™ Brand Reconstituted Foodstuffs (now with more stuffs!), a tin of Tim's Tins© o' Semifood (sweet baby Jesus! Now with less sodium!) and a bag of Freezing Freddy's™© Frozen Froot (contains no fruit).

It's a distinctly southern and Midwest thing.

Most American coastal suburbanites have likely only had an American casserole if they visited friends/family from the Midwest/south.

my dad apparently ate a lot of casserole when he was a foreign exchange student in illinois during the early 90s.
from what he told me it was only really a thing that'd come up when they had friends/family over.

casserole dishes were the old timey version of the airfryer. then boomers started using electric crockpots. then genx fell inlove with the microwave. then millenials started getting into instant pot pressure cookers, and then zoomers embraced the airfryer.

these trends follow traditional family sizes. if you have a large family, you need a large dish to make a large portion of a large meal. when you hit genx and these babeless losers started living alone, microwaves started making more sense. Now you got zoom zooms living bythemselves with no plans whatsoever to have human children so they sperg over their single serving cooking devices.

oh my source? it came to me in a dream.

Convenience I suppose and also they can be really good. You just throw a few layers of sloppa in a glass pan and pop it in the oven and that's it

America got fat as fuck after casseroles fell out of popularity, casseroles were the white man's choice of cuisine before the TV told them to eat seed oils. We have to go back.

Why would you even hate on casseroles? They're basically just a typical family meal (meat + starch + veg) mixed with binder/filler and optional dairy. I'm pretty sure every European country has some type of casserole staple (not like we invented the shit) and it's not really conceptually different from Asian stir fries.
