Yeah, and it doesn't even give you a real idea of what that meat would taste like. Meat isn't just protein with a certain DNA genome, its flavor is influenced by the animal's fat content, activity level, diet, and other factors that can only occur in a living animal. Think of the taste difference between grass fed and grain fed beef. Even if you perfectly clone mammoth meat, for example, it wouldn't have the flavor that comes from the mammoth's actual diet, it would just be pure protein with some injected fat and none of the natural influence of a living animal. Even as a novelty it's pointless bullshit.

It may be structurally identical, it won't actually be anything like the real thing in terms of nutrition and taste because it's so completely sterile. All micronutrients would be manually added, likely from synthetic (read: less bioavailable) sources, and I'd even bet the fat they inject will be hydrogenated polyunsaturated fats because saturated fat is "unhealthy."

All this talk of reviving mammoths is empty hype. We can't bring them back. Every DNA sample is fragmented. At best we make some elephant-mammoth hybrid, which will still lack the specific and now gone microbiota that would allow them to digest their historical diet. However, it would be very easy to use the genetic material present to grow elephant tissue with all the segments for muscle and fat synthesis spliced in from mammoths. We could eat mammoth again.

You can’t be really immortal because there isn’t a persistent self. Likewise you can’t be omnipotent for the same reason, ‘power to act’ is an abstraction.

See above. Sentient beings are series of mental states. Sometimes there is joy, sometimes there is pain. By clinging to your idea of a utopia which strictly speaking you could not possibly witness, you will only cause yourself suffering.

honestly? The ones we waste the bulk of, or did so for such a long time they're no longer ecologically fashionable. Monkfish tail and liver, quail, foiegras, veal, you'd be amazed how many species are butchered for like one gland, organ or muscle and the rest is turned into dogfood or fed to another livestock. Even if you want to come down on the side of, hurrdurr animals don't have cognition and aren't suffering, there's still no reason to waste that much energy and carbon and space raising an entire animal. IF the point is truly the flavor rather than some andro power fantasy wherein dominating an entire goose or monkfish life for like 3-6 bites of provably, massively wasteful food, and then jerk off about it later..

people like you are what hold society bag from progressing.

there are two types of people in this world: those who yearn to understand what they don't, and those who are afraid of what they don't understand, and you're the latter. almost every bad thing that's ever happened in the world is because of people like you. it's okay though, it's not too late to quit being a faggot and change your ways, you just need to think about things a little more

Good. Not all progress is positive and every step of it should be thoroughly questioned.

I'm not "afraid of what I don't understand," I'm rationally skeptical about the ability of synthetically produced meat to sufficiently replace naturally produced meat on a nutritional level. For example, one of the great benefits of meat from ruminants is that it's full of extremely bioavailable vitamins and minerals due to the multi-step processing involved with them digesting food repeatedly, and if you grow beef in a lab you won't have the benefit of that process at all. So the vitamins and minerals in the meat will either be much more "raw" (closer to the original form in the grass/plants) and thus less bioavailable or the meat will be fortified with synthetic vitamins and minerals much like sandwich bread and other items, which again means less bioavailability and thus lower nutritive quality. The biggest problem is that in a world where everyone thinks pharmaceuticals solve everything and synthetic vitamins are just A-OK very few people will question this as the quality of the nutrition in our food is sapped away in the name of greater profits and convenience.

If the only available response to these concerns is guilt-tripping people over "fear of progress" then that should raise some red flags that there aren't actually satisfactory answers to these problems so they're being shoved aside with emotional appeals. People like you who blindly and dogmatically accept all progress for the sake of progress only serve to prove how necessary it is for people like me to stand up and speak out.

Jesus Christ.
They have his foreskin at some church in Italy so just get the cells from that and make Jesusburgers to have for Sunday communion. Body of Christ indeed.
