What are your thoughts on Foie Gras? Does it taste nice and what about the ethics of how it's made?

I like it just because it makes weak pussies seethe about muh animal abuse

There's certified free-range foie if you're concerned
One of the best foods on the planet

Once a year I buy some slice it into one half to one quarter inch slices and Fry it. It tastes pretty good. A local fine dining place does a sweet breads and foie gras on toast thing that I like.

>> No.19072484

>>19072451
It really is a taste of its own, hard to compare to anything. Very creamy and mostly consisting of fat. Best paired with something light to balance out the richness.

I don’t think free range is really the problem with foie gras

>> No.19072491

Vile Frenchfucks dodged animal abuse laws by declaring it a cultural heritage food and because of EU laws they can sell it in the whole EU. Anyone who buys this shit should be beaten and force-fed for a month before getting dropped off in some African cannibal tribe. At least based UK got to work on banning that shit the second they got out of the EU's corrupt mafia racket.

Some of the most intelligent animals on earth are birds. Parrots have asked existential questions even which is more than signing gorillas have ever done. There are species of bird that craft and use complex tools.

I love it.
Also I wipe my ass with American hypocrisy trying to ban for gras while crushing live baby chicken in a gigantic hydrolic crusher because they don't have the right gender. The ones that are not crushed are secluded into a gigantic concentration hangar with millions of other chicken and will never see the sun before getting eaten by a sharting fatty at a fast food chain.

As long as you don't troll and act like humans such as yourself are not animals as well, sure.

>> No.19072554

But it is. There is no reason whatsoever to force-feed ducks or geese. Those animals will eat themselves to death out of their own free will. Chicken, pig and beef farming are far less ethical.

>>19072439
We all suffer and die. We all end up equal and there's nothing unethical about that. Because it's extremely rich, sweet and filling it's best served after the main course as a pre-dessert with equally rich sweet wine, confit d'oignons or peperkoek like in your picture.

This recent fad to try to turn it into a light appetizer is utter nonsense.

It's unironically the best single ingredient on the planet. Even if gavage was significantly more inhumane than any other farming practice it would still be worth it, but the jury's still out on that one. Vegans love to anthropomorphize and ask how you'd like it if someone shoved a tube down your throat and filled you with 10 times the amount of food you usually eat, but vegan arguments are just as retarded as republican arguments. The ducks don't have a gag reflex, and they naturally gorge themselves before the winter.

And unless you're very careful about where you meat is sourced from, the pigs / cows / chickens you eat are likely not having a better time
