You gotta find a brand you like, the actual taste is really variable, and don't forget to add salt. Toss cubes in starch, fry them all over, put them in a dish. Throw some minced garlic and spring onion on top and pour smoking hot oil over.

keep in mind that it's not supposed to be a meal in and of itself. it's a meat extender, not a meat replacement.

OP, to answer your question, mix equal amounts of soy sauce and soy milk together, then brush it on your tofu before frying it in soybean oil.

If he wanted a meat extender and not a meat replacement, he would be eating oatmeal.

Tofu is a sponge will take on pretty much any flovor you add to it. Adding flavor isn't the problem.

Now, if you'd asked "How do I make tofu not have a fucking awful texture?" that would have been a question worth asking (A: You can't. There's far better options that tofu)

there was a place i used to go to a long time ago that made a good agedashi tofu. the coating was nice and light, and the sauce was really flavorful too
i also did it once as a topping for ramen for a vegetarian friend i had. similar as agedashi, deep fried, but with a vegetarian teriyaki glaze and broiled in the oven
